Honestly it's so hard not to fall into the same mindset from the other end. When they're gleefully pissing away everything good in the world, it's tempting to want to take comfort in them at least sharing your pain. I don't want to poison myself with hatred...But fuck, they don't make it easy.
I think that underestimates how transparently easy he is to manipulate in what he thinks is in his interest.

For every example where a military intervention proved a long term boon for a country there are many, many more examples of its people being worse off with many killed to get to whatever nebulous outcome awaits them. Beyond that, being ideologically opposed to a country is not a justification for war. Every time a nation ignores that, international law and its proponents lose credibility, further lowering the bar for more wars.
I think that underestimates the scale of events in motion bigger than Trump. Even under Biden it became clear trust had been eroded due to the lies that pushed Europe into the war against terror. When US came with actionable intelligence that Putin was about to invade Ukraine they were simply not believed. The MAGA cult is just accelerating the inevitable downfall of empire.
It just goes to show that the systems of our civilization are so tightly woven together they become resistant to change. Both good and bad. Like an ocean with a seemingly infinite capacity to absorb the ripples of change so as to become immune to it. Then again there are times when change comes like a fucking tsunami.
A political view isn't like a haircut you know. Some ideologies are 100% toxic waste that nothing can be learned from and are actively harmful. The only debate surrounding them should be how to purge them from society.
I suppose it's a pipe dream but it would be sweet if someday the spoils of their corruption could be seized and used to do exactly that. His bored of peace donations, their crypto grift hoard and his entire estate used to scrape his letters of walls, demolish his ballroom and every other skid mark he left.
Yes Europe has certainly massively benefited from participating in the war against terror.. All we got for our trouble was dead and mangled troops, more terror attacks and a destabilized mid east that sent a refugee crisis our way.
This really ought to be the final insult. If our sacrifices for their idiotic wars mean nothing to them than they can go and fight their own fucking wars. As if they'd honestly still honor their pledge to defend Europe. If or rather when the US inevitably pisses of the wrong people again we should stay well out of it. Our only attachment to these people is economic dependency. We are ideological enemies.

The Nazis set up Jewish councils to organize the deportations of their own people. Their collaboration didn't save them either.
Democracy should not be an end goal in of itself. It is a tool to create and maintain a just and free society. The best tool as far as we know, but if a majority votes for a government that turns on its own people then the tool has failed and they are morally justified in tearing the system down.
The only way I see we survive this century is through the federalization of the EU or we'll either end in ashes or someone's vassal.
