What in the Assassin's Creed is that environment?
Considering the conservative rot in the American psyche, as a Democratic Socialist in a normal political climate it would be a miracle she got second place in that field. When first place is 29% and second is 26% there might be hope for the future. But this political climate is in crisis. I hope Biss does well though. I'll give him credit for basic decency not sicking the cops on a Pro-Palestine protest during his tenure as mayor.

We're in this situation because of a septic level infiltration of money into politics and religion.
Because there are plenty of people who think if the world goes to shit enough he'll come back. And they think he'll be happy with their intentional manipulative mismanagement to that effect. I despise Eschatology.
There may be some strategy to Talarico though, Texas is a religious nutjob stronghold, getting someone who speaks the language and is willing to has the potential to work.Though I agree the pettiest outcome is to screw Jasmine Crockett out of her seat and then have her get an even higher office.
