I guess I like Norse mythology, heraldry and D&D. Wyverns and dragons are only two- and four-legged, respectively, in heraldry. In mediaeval stories the two are used interchangeably.

Any evidence? Even a quick Google search suggests a shield wouldn't weigh above 6kg. The wood itself would only be millimetres thick.
