Just want to point out - the term banana republic comes from countries that the US destabilized politically in order to protect corporate economic interests, and companies' ability to exploit their workers. See the United Fruit Company, now known as Chiquita Brands International; or the Standard Fruit Company, now known as Dole Food Company.
To them, people with addictions are to be punished. Criminals are to be punished. No, don't question what led them to become addicts or turn to crime. Punish them. As god intended.
