Once at scout camp, A raccoon stood on my sleeping bag while I was in it to take my freshly sewn merit badge sash hanging above. I only know because of the footprints left behind.

When Kahless went to the man, he asked him what he was doing. The man replied, "I am not afraid. I will not hide my face behind stone and mortar. I will stand before the wind and make it respect me." Kahless respected the man and returned to the safety of the walls. On the following day, the man was killed by the storm. "The wind does not respect a fool."

My favorite is that Eden is supposedly at the site of 4 major rivers converging which last occurred in the Middle East before the flooding of the Persian Gulf. Real 1-2 punch for a cultural memory.

That's the real motto of Missouri in my experience: "Show me proud stupidity."

I'd need to have a target that meant something within reach. I'd need to have some belief that the attack would do something positive and not just be an expression of rage. If I saw the writing on the wall of a fascist takeover I'd probably sooner get my family out of the country than plan to fight.

Yeah we had this polite fiction where I would read ahead and then "lose my place" for my turn. Worked until an English teacher decided to hit the "independent thought alert".

Apparently they're trying to roll it into the defense appropriations bill so it will have to survive the house and senate reconciling rather than a straight house vote.

In most jurisdictions it's illegal for public workers to strike which renders unions powerless.

I work for a college in Colorado and I'm doing the same thing. Worst part is that it's going to work out for me because I never get to use my sick leave. I just get to teach from home.
