In Germans it's igitt. The "g" is pronounced like the one in "golf" not like in "German"

In conclusion the German people DID choose to make him head of the government. He then abused his position to gain the power of a dictator
He then used a fire in the Reichstag as a pretense to pass laws that effectively gave him the power of a dictator 3/4
almost half of the German population voted for his party which had the obvious consequences of making him chancellor. 2/3
German here, we spend 3 years in high school history classes just talking about Hitler and I can tell you with confidence that 1/2
