I feel for you. A nice house is a huge blessing, but don’t mistake it for being a true source of happiness or joy. For me, those come from1/
The posts I took out were installed the same way and were rot-free after at 15+ years so I’m not too worried about it.
All the posts sit on a 12”x12”x4” concrete pad or deck blocks buried 12” deep. The post holes are back filled with dirt, which is fine.
I intend to stain it but I’ve read it’s best to wait 3-6 months to do so to let the moisture in the PT pine dry out.
