Mine comes on when I release the parking brake, but after that, they stay on and won't go out until the car is turned off.
Good way to kill your battery and be begging for a jump at the drive in :D
My DRLs don't come on until I release the parking brake. Once on they stay on though, even if I pull it again.
^ this. With modern cars almost every switch/knob/button is a soft switch that can be programmed to do basically anything you want.
