Which was part of the issue with Trump - some states' electorates were playing w/ the idea of not voting for him, in spite of state results.
The party selects electorates. When you vote for president, you're basically voting for them & they in turn vote for president.

And the worst thing that happens to me is I shrug and go "welp, I sent some imaginary kids some gifts and felt warm and fuzzy about it."
I know you've been through a ton, but therapy may help all involved. You can't save your marriage if you aren't willing to try.
The strain of your partner's cancer, losing your home, having to live with in-laws and depending on their kindness is a lot...
