No one that i personally know, really feels guilty about WW2 and the Holocaust. Though we all tend to be aware of it and our heritage.
There are no 'Germans', we are and always were a union of many (Baier, Friesen, Franken, Schwaben, Sachsen, Sudeten, Schlesier, Preußen etc)
they have, because they are seeking refuge/asylum. how much would they have to offer you to live in a wartorn country?
if the result is the same, the choice doesnt matter or more dircetly: if one option is force, the other isnt voluntary anymore
