Essentially you have a guy with religious authority telling poor white people that if they donate some money then God will fix their financial problems. When it doesn't work they just say "Well you didn't give enough!" On average conservatives are a bit wealthier, but most of them are also desperately poor, so the "God will fix your financial problems" is pretty attractive.

They money is definitely funding Iran's war effort, including the effort to destroy the oil supply, but of course Trump officials claim it won't make a big difference, they are only buying a little bit. There are also some promises kept that regular politicians never did, (overturning Roe v Wade being the big one), so there is fuel for them to delude themselves.

My understanding is that they have been in a regional cold war for decades. Yemen has been in a state of civil war for years. The rebels (AKA the Houthis) are funded by Iran, Saudi buys tanks from the USA and sends them to help the government.
Is this supposed to deceive them into thinking it is the past? I would think they already feel like "something is not quite right" all the time, and living in this fake looking neighborhood seems like it would make that even worse.

Billionaires have more money but they also have more accountants and lawyers to avoid paying those taxes. The IRS is under-funded and does not have the resources to deal with those people. So they go after the people who cannot afford to fight the IRS. Also, the very rich make their money based on investments, and congress made separate rules for investments a long time ago because they believe in "trickle down" economics.
Part of the problem is that, even if you accept the greed, corporations are being short sighted. The reason is that you make more money from stock trading than you do from holding them and collecting dividends. So maybe give dividends the lower number.
To Republicans the government is only supposed to stop the bad people, helping the good people is the job of charity. So the government can spend infinite tax money for weapons and anything "national security" related, but anything that makes life easier for someone and suddenly taxes are theft.
