Pachelbel's Canon

#5 Theology major here - many first and second hand accounts of Jesus' life weren't cannonized at Nicea because they didn't fit the narrative the council wanted to put forward.... and those gospels are a fun read. I recommend Thomas. IIRC, a child Jesus turns some kids to stone for making fun of him, among other hijynx.

The Left has got to get better at explaining the difference between sex and gender. You aren't "assigned" male at birth. You're born most often born genetically male or female (MOST... genetics are complicated). But its possible that your gender identity doesn't match your biological sex and science enables us to change sex. Its not that complicated, but his phrasing will ignite ignorant haters.

Reading is not the only indicator or predictor of education and intellect, but it's a heck of a covariant.

While I 100% agree, the Pure Food and Drug Act was passed in 1906. The sandwich was invented in 1762... legislation always lags innovation.

#11 I could drink 100 beers in a month without getting drunk. And not because I'm built different, because that's 3 beers a day and 5 on weekends. One beer at breakfast, lunch, and dinner, and sneak in a couple more across the day on Sat and Sun. Shit, Germans and Belgians might already do this by accident.

0 degree. I hate to be the wet blanket, but sick burns on talk shows matter 0% when her constituents are literally being killed by federal agents in the streets.

This guy voted in a way that would please his constituents: he represents the 4th wealthiest district in the country. It's not fear of Trump, it's job security. Blame Trump for executive overreach, consolidation of power, court packing, unprecedented gerrymandering, and 100 other things. AND blame this guy for not holding the exec branch accountable for committing acts of war and enabling ICE. But know he fears his donors far more than Donny... same kneepads, different dong.

It's not sabatoge. If your goal is total independence and dominance in your sphere of influence (i.e., western hemisphere), then you can convince yourself you need Greenland, but not alliances with nations outside the part of the world you care about. He's burning bridges he doesn't think he'll need to cross again.

I don't agree with the strategy, but calling it stupid or sabotage IS NOT saying the quiet part out loud.... it's missing (or distracting from) the actual point.

Look, I don't like it either, but just posting rage bait isnt helping. There is precedent for this: Panama. It will be widely condemned as a violation of international law, but no country is going to act in Venezuela's defense. And it's at best technically ambiguous under domestic law because it's being framed not as an invasion, but as an execution of an arrest order with military support. Again, not saying I agree, but we did this to Panama's dictator in the 80s. Buckle up for the same shit.

When I was about 8 and learning to cook, my mom had made some hard boiled eggs. My little brain thought, "what if I made egg salad with JUST the yolks? Then, there's this perfect little cubby to put the yolk salad back in!" I showed my mom my culinary "invention" amd she was like, "oh sweetie, that IS a great idea. Its just already called something." I was crushed.

A tiny bit of research, like a Google search for "hottest gifts of the season" will get you started!

Great post. Additional relevant points: (1) if you give, think of babies and teens - they are often overlooked for toy drives. And (2), avoid giving "typical" gifts (play doh, hot wheels, stuffies) b/c charity groups are inundated with them. Source: my wife and I run a 501c that focuses on holiday toys for sick kids and we've learned a lot.

I am 100% here for and excited about his win, but it doesn't take a political scientist to realize winning a major election in a deep blue city like NYC is not very similar to a statewide or nationwide election. It's good progress, but this is a bit of a false equivalency that makes the nut seem easier to crack than it it is. It is GOOD, but it is a single step toward a brighter future, not "the whole DNC's house of cards has fallen bc a brown man won in a metro city." Let the down votes rain.

So much this. "The Structure of Scientific Revolutions" by Thomas Khun is a GREAT read about this for those interested in how unsciencey science can be in practice.
