Hell, even top Republicans put up a deal that would fund TSA and merely delay the (vote on?) funding for ICE, and Trump rejected it

Rather than spending his final days with his loved ones he's licking a fascist's boots; he's doubly awful.

Again, women's records and podia are not being overwhelmed by trans men, and they've been competing with their genders for many years now. There have been all of, what, two trans athletes in the last few Olympics? You are trying to solve a *phantom* problem, no matter how "common sense" you may think it is.

2 weeks ago | Likes 1 Dislikes 0

That might make sense if you ignore all the science to the contrary. Study after study show that trans women who have been on HRT exhibit no discernible advantage over cis women, when studying the specific characteristics you mention, like bone density and muscle mass. That *is* reality.

I'm not sure if you were being deliberately obtuse or glib, but the real people harmed by these policies are not just the Olympic athletes, but the kids who just want to play high school sports for fun.

Putting aside the facts that advantageous genetic differences are celebrated in the Olympics and that reproductive ability is not (and should not be) remotely germane, the purported advantages (I'm not denying that they exist in general, only that they are not applied uniformly) are undone by a year or two of HRT, which is a requirement of the IOC for trans folks to compete.

You're tilting at windmills, here; your problem is theoretical, but your solution hurts very real people.

I have good news for you, then! That won't ever happen because trans women are women!

Psssssst... we can do whatever the fuck we want with our language. "Only choices", my ass...

Well, if the majority want something, it must be right!
Capitalism is a default paradigm!
We could be fair to everyone by reinstituting separate-but-equal!
Chromosomes are something that everyone knows and are never anything but XX or XY!

God almighty, are you competing for a gold medal in being wrong?

"Jenkins! 'tule' is great, but we need a new word!"
"Double the next letter."
"'Tuule'? Great! How 'bout another?"
"Double the letter after that."
"Okay, then wh--"
"Just keep going down the line, doubling as you go, and don't you dare stop."

smh these videos of people putting animals into danger so that they can save them for clocks are getting out of hand.

I definitely read it as "Sesame Street banned four episodes..." at first, too. Took me a minute to parse it as you intended.

......what? Nobody said or suggested anything like that.

No fabrications *should* be made; there's already more than enough ammunition on that front, and like the link says, we don't need to discredit ourselves and score points for the right. Not trusting anyone or anything because conservatives will lie about it is cutting off your nose to spite your face.

#8 Oof, a friend of mine from elementary/middle/high school hurt his back playing basketball for the school team. Treating it with prescribed meds turned into an opiate addiction which led to his killing a woman in a fiery crash. Straight-laced kid to prison for decades; it's very real.

You know what would also be sad? Getting caught in another Great Molasses Flood. Seconds count.

I agree that it's heinous, but she's a fucking gold medalist and I ain't shit, so nobody should be caring what I think about her hair.

I grew up in Waco, so I'm a bit biased, but I think it rules. Certainly beats my alma mater's slogans of "Pony up" (which isn't bad in a vacuum, but loses some of its verve when it's used by the second-most-expensive school in the state) and what they changed it to this year: "Thunder down"

My pallet can hold up to 3,500 pounds and be picked up by a forklift from any direction. What the fuck does sugar and tomato sauce have to do with that?!

Mmkay, dude. If it makes you feel better to either completely miss the forest for the trees or deliberately misunderstand her point, go ahead, I guess, but I urge you to consider what benefit, to anyone, this questioning is doing.

Would Luke Skywalker make a better hockey player than Jake Oettinger a Jedi? Let the fandoms decide.

Truly, it's okay for women to change their mind, my dude. She exercised her agency in both styles, and she caught hate for doing it in a particular way. How she personally felt about each style at the time is irrelevant; she *chose* to dress a certain way and some shitstains decided to make their dissatisfaction with her choice her problem.

As a Stars fan, I was a bit salty that Oettinger didn't get the starts in goal, but after watching that third period I can't imagine anyone could have done better than Hellenbuyck.

Now rereading your comment before this, I understand better what you meant by it, and while it doesn't change the substance of my responses, I'll apologize for my tone that was based on a less charitable first pass.

I don't recall those, but it was back in 2010, and most of our travel was from Riyadh out to the boonies.

My only encounter with vehicular law enforcement was when we got pulled over at a checkpoint on an onramp to a packed highway at midnight while the guy in front of us, who was driving without his headlights on, was waved on through.

My dude, the government has been hemorrhaging attorneys, and the ones who remain are stretched thin and overworked, being asked to defend blatantly unconstitutional motions and prosecutions that are getting slapped down at an astonishing rate; there is no way that the government will pursue all of these unconstitutional subpoenas *and* succeed in getting a judge to sign off on them. That has to happen before Google has to lift a finger; they're not going to be tied up.

You ever been on a highway in Saudi Arabia? Most lawless place I've ever seen.

Had to look him up to see if it was the same guy who owns a bunch of car dealerships here in Dallas and ran for Governor a little while back and, yup, the very same.

And I think you gravely underestimate the damage to the trust of their customers needlessly complying with this administration can cause. There's actually massive downsides to complying, weighed against very little cost considering how few successes the government has had in enforcing such subpoenas.

I'm not sure how you managed to make my point right back to me, in greater detail, to boot, while also thinking you're refuting me. An administrative subpoena it's not compulsory; if it's blessed by a court, it becomes a judicial subpoena.

In order to make anyone's life difficult, the onus is on DHS to being it to an Article III court, which have been slapping down the government left and right, and if *anyone* has the legal resources to fight them, it's companies like Google and Meta.
