Looked into it after that thinking it was weird - I also assumed the mental image was just a phrase ppl used, I only ever saw black when closing my eyes

I'm the same. Read a lot of books and have gotten very emotional hundreds of times. I just can't see the faces of the characters. It's like I know what they would look like if I met them but I can't see them? Is very weird. I witnessed a crime and couldn't describe the assailant at all but when I saw him, pointed him out and he confessed (not a smart guy).

Your sarcasm sounds British. Maybe you should add an "/s" on the end for the folks over the pond

I qualified as a Dr. alongside a classmate.... who doesn't believe in viruses. Beat that! (sadly serious, no joke)

definitely wasnt saying they should make it public it was conceived in a threesome - that's noones business. It's 2024 - there are many types of families, and it's less damaging to a child to think they were conceived when their dad was temporarily separated or something like that than to find out well into adulthood their father is in fact their "friendly uncle". And the ppl who'd judge unusual parentage are just as likely going to judge a single mum anyway. I'd never be able to lie for 25years

I dunno... I mean, all three adults made a choice, maybe they're adult enough to accept the kid shouldn't be hidden away like a shameful secret? If baby is this guys, then his family should know about it. Kid should have a dad, and if the 2 ladies were close enough to be shagging, then I guess they're close enough to talk through things

Yeah I mean there is an element if truth to Idiocracy for sure... smart people often make smart kids, and (normally) dont have kids until they're in a position to support and raise them well. They have fewer. And dumb ppl often dont care to raise kids right. But there are many millions of smart women without doctorates, and I know some Dr's who are Dr's by circumstance and aren't nice ppl... My main source of frustration from my circumstances is I can never do anything correct. I've done things-

Do you think someone saying "I'm sickened by all the murders of black people by american cops" means that they are in favour of the less-common murder of white people by american cops?

Qualifying as a veterinary Dr, a male professor told us it’s our moral duty to society to have some babies as it’s a “disgraceful only women without good enough genes to be Dr’s are having babies” … in IVC evidensia interview, high-up said “female vets are destroying the industry as they all want babies instead of opening new clinics”. The woman choosing to have babies without a doctorate, the Dr’s having babies, & those without babies are all shamed here. I’ve heard variations countless times.

Palestine is a country of young people (essentially 50% legally children) and Hamas was "elected" with a non-majority with a low turnout 18 years ago - within a year Hamas changed to totalitarian system with no further elections. But sure, the children voted for it.... :/

I had the opposite. Friend said he'd "far more than liked" me for years. I said I cared about him but didn't realise he had romantic feelings and I didnt feel the same way. I said I was sorry and still wanted to be friends. He said he didn't feel comfortable hanging out with me anymore and said he was upset in group situations when I was there. I lost an entire friend group for being honest. Not saying its a normal situation, but certainly makes me nervous when friends show interest now :(

I feel like you aren't reading what I write. Its fine you don't like him. Its fine you think it was insensitive, I just disagreed. He didn't know she was very sick - she'd had surgery 2 months before and Palace announced it was a success. Its the unusual/unexplained appearances he joked about: "theres a non-zero chance that she died 18 months ago and it's a Weekend at Bernies situation"... He didn't wish ill on her. I didn't like you calling me sexist for disagreeing with you.

-- oh and btw, I obviously hope Kate handles the chemo well, recovers well, and her kids can grow up with a healthy mum (just spelling it out: Liking John Oliver ≠ wishing harm on women)

I didn't say you weren't allowed to dislike him and I'm really not sure how you being a woman came into anything I said? As a woman, I personally like John Oliver and think his Weekend At Bernies joke was aimed at the Palace's weird PR stuff lately (not addressing Kates unusual public appearances, the weird AI stuff they released) and not her being sick - the Palace had already said her surgery was a success. If you read my message & thought I was a sexist emotion-dictator... that's on you

I mean, he made the joke a week before her cancer diagnosis was public - and it wasn't even a bad joke with the weird way the palace was handling things. I don't think he said anything insensitive once it was known what was going on?

I think they mean it more in the sense that many people work exceptionally hard but still can't dig themselves out. She feels privileged to have made it out of hard times whilst others are still digging. That's how I took it at least

- its a myth that we can just get love by fluttering our eyes. We get crushed and used just like you do

2 years ago | Likes 3 Dislikes 1

I disagree that is a gender-specific issue. Women don't get unconditional love from anything from animals either. I love my dog more than anything, I didn't want her (was told she'd be euthanized at end of day without a home) and now I'd take a bullet for her. My question is why this "women don't understand how hard it is to be unloved, and will never understand the bond we have with our animals, and will never be as crushed as us when they die" position? It's ridiculous. And as a woman -

Don't think anyone's ever said fathers hate animals... feels like faux outrage for a problem that doesn't exist. Its a cliche that fathers don't want pets and love them once they get them, but I'm not sure they're anymore a financial obligation/responsibility on the father than the mother. I sometimes think men hold tighter to the status quo of the household and animals are highly disruptive.

I dont think one book and some people that like it means that its true. There are plenty of people who love plenty of shit books. Your pointing this book out is supposed to prove the general consensus that men are always mistrusted in society? What about the mega-fandom of Jordan Peterson who repeatedly states in his books how awful women are?

ok.

- your experience and that you had a relationship with someone who was awful (and that you lost friends because of it). But I really don't think like that's the statistical norm. I hope you find someone kind in future

- for context, i heard a housemate hurt his gf and she was crying asking him to stop, He was threatening her. She called police, they showed up. He took them aside and told them how "she's so dramatic when she's drunk, I'm so worried about her because she tries to hit me but what if she did it to the wrong person...". She was arrested because she'd had a drink. My ex threatened to kill me and was violent - he told some of my friends some awful things about me that weren't true. I'm sorry about-

I don't really understand this - "everyone will believe them over a man" there an extraordinary amount of evidence/studies showing there is bias against believing a woman's word (Rape Myth Beliefs, historical Gaslighting and such). I'm not saying there's not many manipulative women, but there are also many manipulative men and in my experience the men were always believed - "she's crazy, she's f**king her boss" etc. I think ppl are much quicker to believe a mans word that a woman is crazy. -

As it costs $50 (cheap end) to administer a drug test, would cost $3,250,000,000 to test the recipients just once. Likely many more times that in practical usage as people lose welfare and reapply and new applicants everyday. You would surely not support this waste of money? Also, isn't it a bit degrading to make people on hard times piss in a cup to prove they're not druggies? They're not being screened for public office, just trying to eat
