nostalgia goggles are a big factor for me, yes. But i also loved the prequels but i was a kid. i even loved jar jar. Silly space western for sure. I don't think George Lucas is a good director i think it was 'saved by the edit'. (alderaan blowing up wasn't in the first cut) But character development nonetheless, a trait the sequels are missing. This project had a lot of potential but bad supervision. look at the first season of mandalorian.

just talking about the original trilogy: a grimey space adventure about rebellion against an overwhelming military regime. part 1) worldbuilding, our characters get to know each other and after his mentor died Luke saves the day with the force and blows up the death star. inalways interpreted it as it wasn't all gone. 2) The empire strikes back. Our characters grow, character development (Luke learns about the force, Han is less selfish) Han gets captured, Luke barely escapes. 3) finale wolimit

Still bad writing. You could have Palpatine return and still have a story arc develop. Instead you had different diretors driving the narrative for one movie and not have a big picture.

@OP here is the PBS documentary: https://www.pbs.org/video/clarence-and-ginni-thomas-hxtlm2/ add it to your post? International viewers might need a vpn to watch it

probably varies heavily from state to state. It's the US so i wouldn't be surprised if there are some county judges that accept 'i thought i smelled weed' to give a fast-tracked warrant on the phone.

contrary to what OP claims, there is no indication of a widescale ukrainian offensive. There has been constant fighting in dozens of areas and the activity of this youtuber isn't really telling anything other than that.

Ah yes sure, i'll listen to a keyboard warrior with the 'expertise' of multiple hours of studying at the 'university' of youtube /s. You see how putting those words in quotation is meant to emphasize the ironical use of those words? Good, that's how i was referrimg to the 'volunteers' and 'reservists' of the russian army, you schmuck

well, we are both speculating / talking out of our ass at this point, aren't we? Just listened to different 'expert' opinions ;) I atleast have to admit that i am way out of my depth here

nevermind artillery when you are out of reach of your own air defenses and/or artillery and can't defend against enemy air superiority.

yeah, this sounds violently like US public education. EU and NATO are different things. 2013 Ukraine was about to sign a treaty with the EU, then Yanukovic refused. This sparked the Euromaidan, ousting Yanukovic. Then the krim got annexed. You shouldn't learn recent history from imgur comments, ya know?

Let's hope they find a strategic opening with minimal losses like the kherson and kharkiv offensives last year. Let's hope western countries can keep up their sanctions.

i am not sure which mobilization effort you refer to. The mobilization of 'reservists' half a year ago? The recent MOD propaganda about 400k new 'volunteer' units? i am not sure. Seems like you needed to blow off steam and i get that. I too am frustrated.

let's hope they don't get any civilians mobilized. As much as we hate russia right now.. and as surprising as their ongoing support for putin seems to us.. these people also don't need to die.

Generally speaking - attacking is much more dangerous than defending. I fear the cost of these coming offensives for the Ukrainians. While their losses haven't been nearly as high as their russian counterparts' it is still a heavy price to pay. This tragedy could have been avoided so easily. Fuck putin and his apparatus of corrupt bureaucrats and fuck their stupid fucking imperialistic dreams of whatever slavic fantasy they dream of. small men, all of them. slava ukraini.

really? i am not familiar with taibbi or what his twitter files are supposed to be and am not sympathetic to him but hasan didn't really let him talk if only to dig his own grave. Tried to get a gotcha moment in getting him to publicly distance himself from elon but this was just classic network television riling up their own base not unlike what tucker or hannity do in my opinion. there was a dicussion to be had but this was not it.

wrongthink is the title of her show? wow. what a lack of self-awareness.

yep. i enjoy watching the family dynamics play out in this deeply dysfunctional family. One deeply dislikes all the main characters while still empathizing with them in their weaker moments. Hate to love them, they are garbage human beings. Speaks to the greatness of the writing imo

still unwell feeling about publicly shaming her. Story is most likely true but should be dealt with in a court of law not public shaming no?
