It looks like a Crème Brûlée, which you can make like that (upside down and then invert for serving).

Same, I'm sure I could look up each headline, match it to the relevant article and get a date for when it happened, BUT:

What kind of time period do these headlines cover ?

Bet that would look cool under a black light,

OPEC is a CARTEL, that is what a cartel does, they are not shy about it either. OPEC agree on how much oil they are going to produce to manipulate the price and attempt to ensure that each oil producing country is able to produce their share. What we're seeing now is the result of the supply/demand equation being unbalanced with too much demand and not enough supply. This has caused the price to rise dramatically (doubling !) which should reduce demand.

They could try, but it's way over the other side of Saudi Arabia and would likely make them some very angry enemies.

I'm finding that I need to explicitly do that more and more, especially on political type posts.

It takes guts to wear an outfit like that in front of school children.

Wow, that is a LOT of hot, dirty, sweaty effort (and not in the good way). Are the rocks hammered in just to give it some texture/grip or are they to stop the skateboarders ?

When was war ever been about anything other than taking someone else's land ?

Oil supply/demand is a fairly fine balance and most of that balance is defined by the Middle East as that is where all the excess supply is available. Most other places are already pumping at capacity most of the time (without significant extra investment, which takes years to happen). The Middle East supplies about one third of global oil requirements.

The world has "strategic oil reserves" (ie. sitting in tanks) of approx 1.5 billion barrels, which at the rate of the 20mil bpd not coming through the blocked straight would last 75 days. The IEA member countries have agreed to release 400mil barrels (which is a decent chunk of reserves), which will in thoery cover the 20mil/day loss required for 20days, but in reality will last for longer as during that time other measures will be put in place to reduce consumption or increase production.

Joining the armed forces at age 42, that would totally suck. I can't imagine they would be getting good "value for money" by taking 42yo recruits, but if all you need is meat for the grinder, then I guess it works ?

Some numbers for comparison:
* total world oil consumption is around 105 million barrels per day
* on a normal day about 20 million barrels would pass through the Straight of Hormuz.

The pipeline mentioned is normally in use, so we still lose the capacity through the straight. This just means that the countries Saudi Arabia supplies oil to via this pipeline will not be getting hit with shortages.

Businesses are allowed to refuse cash as a payment method, normally they should state it clearly up front, which is what this sign is attempting to do (bad spelling aside).

https://www.federalreserve.gov/faqs/currency_12772.htm

Most of the state based exceptions you are referring to are narrow in scope. EG. the NY one only applies to retail & food stores, with the intent to prevent discrimination against those people who might not have a bank account and cards.
