It went on very smooth. I was surprised at how runny the polyurethane was, I didn't have any issues with it.

I found a 9 inch wide synthetic bristle brush made for floors, it looks kind of like a mop, but I use that for the stain and polyurethane.

Once I got under a section of plywood with a pry bar, I shoved tung shovel in there to provide leverage and hold the plywood up 1/2
