If AI were even half as awesome and capable as they claim they'd be drowning in sales but they are desperate to scrounge up more investor capital to keep the lights on as they try to figure out basic revenue streams. So they shove AI shit into their established products so they can claim anybody who did a google search or opened a docx file is an "active user" of AI to lure in investors.
Now I'm not saying this is unique to the USA, I mean look at Japan with their collective lolicon fetish (cue angry weeaboos downvoting and chanting "she's really a 5000-year-old dragon, she's just in the body of an 8-year-old, so it's okay!") but in the US the dichotomy between prudish puritanism and hypersexualization that make up the cultural face makes it so much more noticeable.
