If you’re a fan of conspiracy theories, especially ones revolving around New World Order, then you’ll love this one.
Denver International Airport was commissioned at 1.7 billion dollars (1989) and finished at the cost of 4.8 billion dollars (1995). Conspiracy theorist believe that there is something fishy about this airport.
Now, before I begin, I think it's obligatory to tell some of you that like most conspiracy theories, this shouldn't be taken too seriously (or even at all). I'm just posting this because I found it to be a pretty fun read.
The 1st thing people notice when they come by the airport is the giant blue mustang with red eyes. It was created by Luis Jimenez, who died in 2006 when the head of the Mustang fell down on his leg and severed an artery. Some people think its a tribute to the Broncos, but the statue has no symbols relating to them on it. Conspiracy theorists, however, believe that this is the Pale Horse of Death.
(He has some pretty detailed junk for a statue, though. NSFW ? -http://blogs.westword.com/latestword/Mustangrear.jpg )
It doesn’t help that the runways are shaped like a Swastika.
(At this point, I'd like to point this out: https://c1.staticflickr.com/5/4071/4525274963_b7d8ea6e7c_z.jpg)
The Murals
Once inside the building, the murals are even stranger, like the gas mask wearing, sword/ AK-47 weilding man killing the dove of peace.
Magnified picture of the note on the bottom right.
Denver Airport: Children of all colors, dressed in folkloric costumes give weapons wrapped in their country’s national flag to a German boy.
Then there is this mural, which either comes before, or after the story depicted in the previous one. Everyone is giving their weapons to the German boy in the middle and it all results in peace.
Then there is this mural which shows a burning town in the back, a girl holding the Mayan Calendar which predicts death and rebirth.
Then comes the final mural. Which shows total peace and rebirth after a genocide.
Another interesting thing pointed out inside the airport is what is on the floor.
At first it seems like its the chemical symbols for Gold and Silver, but conspiracy theorists take it to mean the abbreviation for Australia Antigen (even though the symbol for that is HBsAg). It has been rumored that Australia Antigen could be used in biological warfare. The symbol in the picture is also placed right before the biological warfare mural.
Don’t let me forget about the underground bunkers.
Edit: Holy shit, guys! My first FP post! Thanks for all the views, upvotes and encouragement. As you asked, part 2 will be up soon, though this time I'll be focusing on urban legends and creepy stories. For those of you who asked for a post about 9/11, that's coming too!
Part 2: 10 Mysteries Left Unexplained (http://imgur.com/gallery/4d8yq)
Part 3: "Come play with us": Stories about Dolls (http://imgur.com/gallery/2Cbs6)
Part 4: "Good night, sleep tight": A Recommendation of 15 Creepypastas (http://imgur.com/gallery/SMeG0)
Fun fact!
In the Spielberg movie Close Encounters Of The Third Kind, this signal is sent to us from Aliens. These numbers are a set of coordinates for the “Devil’s Tower.”
W104’ 44’ 30’ N40’ 36’ 10’ .
If you put them into Google Maps, it points to DIA. This movie was made 1977, over a decade before the airport was constructed.
Again, conspiracy theories, no matter how far-fetched, are super fun to read.
Doge tax, because I forgot to include the photo in this album: http://41.media.tumblr.com/91e61d1c75a2c8617c4ead3f35467832/tumblr_mu1zi7BP8I1sp4ql3o1_500.jpg

This is bullcrap. I was literally there two weeks ago, didn't see ANY of those pictures.

Fenocchia
HBsAg is the surface antigen of the HepB virus; an attenuated version is used to make HepB vaccines. Not sure how it would be bio warfare.
chbarts
It wouldn't. This is total bullshit from one end to the other.
nexusdog
BinkyTheRabbit
The third mural seems like it has a pretty clear message about wildlife conservation/extinction as well, not just some Mayan calendar thing.
LolaMento
the mayan calendar is not even there.
thescarydude
Great auk was inside job.
naturalhero
That's what stood out to me too. The extinctions of Great Auk and Passenger Pigeon were directly caused by humans.
krallisawesome
I'm confused by the mention of the Maya calendar - I don't see anything in the image that could possibly represent it.
NextineX
That and OP says there is a city burning in the background. It's clear there is a forest burning, with an intact city in the background.
BinkyTheRabbit
I'm from Colorado, these murals freaked me out as a kid but I think this conspiracy stuff is a bunch of shit. OP is reading too much into it
NextineX
OP stated multiple times that he just considers it an interesting read and to not read too much into it.
BastardOrphanSonOfAWhoreAndAScotsman
There's a giant BLUE horse in DENVER and we're going to call it a MUSTANG instead of a BRONCO?
thesimpleimagecommentator
Blucifer is disappointed
BinkyTheRabbit
UGH a post about DIA and I, a native Colorado Imgurian, can't think of anything witty to say :(
Lyrian
These murals finally explains why everyone needs to be high as fuck there! This shit is creepy as hell!
tommarto
good read, I enjoyed it
dorenavant
Seconded. Thoroughly entertaining!
Staggard
If this doesn't make it to the front page, I'd be upset.
upvotemantotherescue
Another conspiracy!
AshJamIng
Just to add to the Denver/Plane conspiracy.... John Denver died in a plane crash!!!
randomusernameftwyo
I felt like I was tripping when I saw this. Scary but +1
WarJesus420
Gah! That picture is gonna give me nightmares
Irishda
Mural descriptions are inaccurate. The soldier is war and war is being overcome by unity and peace, not "giving all our weapons to germany"
Irishda
The forest is burning, and the girl holding Mayan artifacts is dead, representing the destruction of the environment and indigenous groups
WhatzitTooya
That German boy in the middle is forging a sword into a plowshare. http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Swords_to_ploughshares

Lets not ignore the black baby jesus right in the middle of the picture too. Damn fools, I died for yo sins (80's black baby jesus)

I just posted a comment about this and then I saw this on here. I can't believe it wasn't mentioned in the post, as obvious as it is.

Also doing it by metalbending. That steel isn't even warm; I figure the hammer's just windowdressing 'cause he doesn't like showing off. ;)
WhatyoudontknowaboutFUCKMOUNTAINcankillyou
I was going to post that, but you beat me to it. Good eye.
MachineGunCaveman
Not only that but the nations bringing their weapons are the ones in the most conflict at that time: Russia and US, UK and Ireland.
JustKindOfClever
And there is no "mayan calendar" and only the forest is on fire in that particular muraln clearly about abuse of ecosystems and resources.
macsuibhne
That airport has no place to sit. Like seriously. Conspiracy? Probably
Witzelsucht
"But the statue has no symbols relating to them". You know, save for the fact IT'S A GIANT BLUE BRONCO!
FrostyLady
I'll just leave this here...
AverageSizedDudeButSmallBoots
Ehhhh...not a fan of the Broncos, but the horse is white, with an orange and blue streaks in the hair.
GasBandit
The entire body is blue, the mane is orange. It's clearly referencing the Denver Broncos.
NickRivieraMD
or, or, call me crazy, both the Denver Broncos and this mustang are references to actual horses that once roamed the West.
DaMarketMasta
But that asshole and bozak veins tho?
Witzelsucht
That's how Elway likes it.
AntiChrisSmith
Oh... That's what THEY want you to think!
moxymox
Good lord. This is what I was thinking, too. What is, it supposed to be wearing an Elway jersey and holding an overpriced Coors Light?
Witzelsucht
Until it has a Peyton Manning esque forehead, I refuse to believe it's in relation to the Denver Broncos!

The German boy was turning the nations swords into plow shares. Anti-Christ?
lostconfusedandeasilydistractedheylookapenny
He will judge between the nations and will settle disputes for many peoples. They will beat their swords 1/?
lostconfusedandeasilydistractedheylookapenny
into plowshares and their spears into pruning hooks. Nation will not take up sword against nation, nor will they

train for war anymore. Isaiah 2:4 3/3
sowetoninja
Just so that people know, this is not referencing the anti-Christ...
lostconfusedandeasilydistractedheylookapenny
Yeah, that's why I quoted that verse lol
Sauroctonus
You know, a swastika would probably be a good shape for a large airport. It seems quite practical.
ritchieritch
That runway looks as much like a swastika as it does a handicap symbol.
jimcake
Thank you
MsSomebody
I used to date a guy who worked for that airport. Lemme tell you, the bunkers mean nothing, they were for security guards to quickly move.
Rapiecage
That's what he wants you to think. He's in on it and you weren't, that's why it ended :3c
MsSomebody
Actually it ended because he cheated on me with a married chick
GetOffMyLawnYa
Ever hear of "Beating our swords into plowshares"? Cause thats' what the "German" kid is doing.
schmitty21
Denver's runways were designed to reduce runway crossings which are a source of many losses of separation every year. Thus the shape.
MotleyPoo
1. Its logical to have the runways in that shape, it allows multiple planes to land and take off safely.
adambomb789
That was my first thought, but given the choice why pick the Nazi orientation over the Buddhist? Just seems fishy.
hoffbox
Indeed - and at least one facing in each cardinal direction. Makes sense to me.
NarySummation
Indeed. Looks like ideal geometry for that.
dirtcreature
It can also be seen as a hat
jellybeaniebaby
Like I said, nothing to be taken seriously. Just found it an interesting read.
lordkango
Even if you did read into it, it is a symbol of peace.
kittenco
Not in that direction, they're not!
lordkango
In that direction yes. When it is tilted, it's the Nazi symbol.
kittenco
no, you have to mirror it for it to be the Buddhist symbol. Open OP's link and compare, if you don't believe me.
LadiesManTwo17
sure, you say that to keep us conformed. WAKE UP SHEEPLE!! #Illuminate

ialreadyfappedtothat
Airplanes land into the wind. Natural to have runway for various wind direction. Dure.
szkud
Yes, but the prevailing wind in that area is from the North, North West. Only North South and East West runways isn't especially practical.
Rox2
It's Denver. The weather does whatever it damn well wants with no warning.
imnotthatblonde
also means idealy 2 runways with no or minimal crosswind at most times
MotleyPoo
That too.
MotleyPoo
2. They symbols are on a bloody mine cart, need I say any more?

Mine? as in the WORLD is MINE? Said by our LIZARD PEOPLE OVERLORDS? WAKE UP SHEEPLE!

Also Colorado was subject to a major Gold Rush then a Silver Rush; Gold and Silver mining are big in State history.
lordkango
It's almost as if we have incorporated this part of our history into our state seal...
MotleyPoo
3. What's the problem with the airport having a meaningful mural.
MotleyPoo
4. Almost everything goes over budget. Its an airport, a lot can go wrong. Sorry for this not being in order btw.
PoptartPounder
that's what the government wants you to think!

I mean yeah, the FAA really does want you to think that.

have you guys noticed the influx of Michiganers? I wouldn't mind were the Red Wings from Hell in actuality instead of my attribution.

As a Coloradan I could not agree more. We've had a influx of new yorkers where I am and it sucks.

Well the people who leave texas to brag about texas are the people we dont want in texas
CaptainBlockedPunt
From CO POV, lotsa folks come here and constantly complain about how CO isn't CA or TX but won't leave. Plenty of happy transplants, tho.
MrTummy
California has shitty politics and Texans can't stop talking about how great Texas is. (this is an abbreviated answer of course)

Californians also have "we are from the best state on the planet" mentality.

Californians need to stay out of Texas too! They're making my city too expensive!

And Texans are making San Diego annoying as fuck.

Because most Californians are just the distilled awfulness from other states, transplanted here to live out their failure in the spotlight

DumbShitIsMyTrigger
Also the Californians who were born here are pretty awful. All Californians are awful. We're awful
Momof2needsabreak
As a Californian, never been to CO and never want to go so agreed, but you have to take our midwest tourists.

Those coordinates take you to a field in Ft Collins, CO, about 60 miles from DIA.

If those coordinates point to DIA for you, it confirms you will survive the apocalypse! If they do not,

Mikesjca
When I put those coordinates into Google maps it takes me dead square to DIA.

Something is fucky then, further research is needed.

This is really the tip of the iceberg for DIA conspiracy theories... Apparently all the barbed wire around the perimeter fence leans IN...

If you travel enough, you realize that a LOT of them have pretty weird art and architecture.

That's cause they don't want the tourists to stick around...as a Seattleite we could use a few more heinous symbolism in our airport

Surprisingly, detroit has some of the most calming architecture and art of any airport i have been in.

oh my god people. they were commissioned to preserve denver's latino mural legacy. they're by leo tanguma, a noted muralist, who (1/?)
Galactopus
Leo was also commisioned to do two murals at UW-Madison
LitchLitch
shh the gringos are scared, we all know what happens when that occurs
Madmanrox
I'm not sure that has any relevance to the fact that some look creepy as fuck. Doesn't matter the style or legacy, creepy is creepy.
octabeck
also painted a number of striking murals on the auraria campus and other places around the city. latino murals are known for their (2/?)

highly politically-charged messages. they don't do subtlety. another fantastic example is emmanuel martinez's "confluent people" (3/4)

So what you're saying is...Leo Tanguma is in the Illuminati?

Thanks for context!

Agreed, though I'm reading into the one not that he's killing peace, but that he's bringing peace at the tip of a sword.
dassemultor
Ah, and could anything be more American than peace at the tip of a sword?

I also thought they were not bringing weapons to the German.. he looks dead, they are laying down of weapons.
IMGesus
As a merican, isnt that how we bring peace? http://rs1img.memecdn.com/amp-039-merican-freedom_o_1268287.jpg
MajorLeagueFister
Those options are kind of equally fucked, really.
heghmoh
Yeah, I kinda doubt the stark gray, ghastly faced, militaristic figure holding a machine gun represents peace...
mynewestusername
But he may believe that he does. How many wars have been fought with the intent to bring peace?
jellybeaniebaby
I like this interpretation -- it kind of explains the note in the mural too!
IntelligentHippo
i agree
reverendfixxxer
I thought so. :)

Or the Silver/ Gold cart on the floor tile could refer to the mining that is a historical part of Colorado. There is a town called Silverton
TacticalCargoShorts
Don't let reason get in the way of a good wacky story.
colourblindchameleon
I was going to say - the shape is clearly an old mining cart

Gold and Silver are also the colors of the University of Colorado, precious metals are pretty important here, guys.
Nateinthewild
The whole damn state was founded on mining.
nectarinewater
Aspen was a silver mining town before it was a ski town. There are ghost towns which were mining camps, it's a big part of CO's history.

Yeah, seriously, there was a major gold rush there too, 1859, what the term "Fifty-Niners" refers to; then in 1879 there was a Silver rush.
Whydopeoplekeepcallingmethat
It's a major part of Colorado's history; the Gold Rush brought in enough people for it to become a State in 1876.
utgort
The state of Colorado was made up because gold was discovered in what was then Kansas. They did not want the gold rush problems.

How would you NOT know?
IbukiOnTheScene
Are you really that fucking dense? Do you know the economic history of every state/province/etc of every country in the world?
CorvetteBob
You didn't know that Colorado has a historical gold mining history?
jellybeaniebaby
I don't live in the US. When I hear 'gold' and 'USA' in the same sentence pretty much what comes to mind is California.
IbukiOnTheScene
You didn't know that Aomori prefecture in Japan is the country's leading apple producer? What a fucking moron
CorvetteBob
Actually the only places I knew about in Japan were Nagasaki and Hiroshima. Weird.
IbukiOnTheScene
Well it's pretty common knowledge. You should go back to school.
JerkandEat
This is the problem with some Americans. They tend to feel that they are the world. Everybody should know about United States
JerkandEat
*they think that everyone should know everything about United States.
NoScopeCornShot
If someone is tossing about conspiracy theories like this they should have a basic knowledge of the subject.
EspionageBear
The problem is the rest of the world treats Americans harshly for not knowing every little detail about them. Hypocrites.
