Kubrick shoulda searched on imgur

10 years ago | Likes 28 Dislikes 2

I Dont think he wanted to go Full Weird.

10 years ago | Likes 4 Dislikes 1

Somehow this statement doesn't make sense because it's Kubrick we're talking about. On the other hand it does since this is imgur.

10 years ago | Likes 2 Dislikes 1

That is a sentence that has never been believed by any human in the hisotry of existence. Kubrick ALWAYS goes full weird.

Jane Fonda was pretty.

10 years ago | Likes 1 Dislikes 1

She's also an amazing actress. I love her scene in season 2 of the newsroom.

10 years ago | Likes 2 Dislikes 0

Definitely. She absolutely kills it in They Shoot Horses. Very talented.

10 years ago | Likes 1 Dislikes 0

I'm amazed to not hear a chorus of hate about her in here like she always gets. Kinda refreshing.

10 years ago | Likes 3 Dislikes 1

Guess what the deleted comment down below was?

10 years ago | Likes 1 Dislikes 0

My god did they actually cut off Carl Weathers' arm?!?!

10 years ago | Likes 12 Dislikes 1

There’s still plenty of meat on that bone. Now you take this home, throw it in a pot, add some broth, a potato. Baby, you got a stew going.

10 years ago | Likes 1 Dislikes 0

Combat Carl never gives up, never surrenders.

10 years ago | Likes 6 Dislikes 0

Yes, then they fed it to an alligator.

10 years ago | Likes 3 Dislikes 0

If you compare shoulders, one is wider than the other. I'm assuming a prosthetic prop, and the other arm is tucked in at his side.

10 years ago | Likes 2 Dislikes 0

No, I'm pretty sure they cut off his arm.

10 years ago | Likes 1 Dislikes 0

Yes, of course. They cut off his fucking arm for the sake of making a movie.

all I wanna know is what happened to her character...

10 years ago | Likes 8 Dislikes 0

She became a writer.

10 years ago | Likes 12 Dislikes 0

She cut her hand, escaped and reported back to Thanos. I think she's going to be busy in GOTG2

10 years ago | Likes 11 Dislikes 0

I knew she cut her hand and hijacked a ship, but after that, or was she in the after credit scenes? because I tend to forget about those :')

10 years ago | Likes 2 Dislikes 0

- Mother Superior.

10 years ago | Likes 1 Dislikes 0

Well, she can give shit excuses to Thanos about why she's betraying him. Either she will appear in the next GOTG or her role replaced by -

10 years ago | Likes 2 Dislikes 0

I think she's returning in the next GOTG, the director even talked about a way why/how she could keep her nice red locks this time.

10 years ago | Likes 2 Dislikes 0

10 years ago | Likes 4 Dislikes 0

THANK YOU!! I've wanted to see a BTS view of the "She Said Down!" scene since I saw Labyrinth in the theater. \o/ I just love practical FX.

10 years ago | Likes 15 Dislikes 0

What do you mean "help?" We are helping!

10 years ago | Likes 2 Dislikes 0

Pretty sure that's on the DVD.

10 years ago | Likes 2 Dislikes 0

I'm sure if I owned the DVD, I would know that. I didn't say it was my life's mission.

10 years ago | Likes 1 Dislikes 0

I would recommend picking up a copy all the same. They show off a lot more of the PFX. It's also just a good movie worth a rewatch.

10 years ago | Likes 1 Dislikes 0

Thanks. After I can afford to pay the mortgage, utility bills, and buy food, I'll get right on that. Internet may go away next month... :/

10 years ago | Likes 2 Dislikes 0

Makes total sense. If you can scrounge a buck or two you may be able to find a copy at the local pawners. DVDs are pretty cheap these days.

10 years ago | Likes 1 Dislikes 0

DVDs and books are also IMO the best way not to go insane when the net is cut.

10 years ago | Likes 1 Dislikes 0

AHHHHHHH! No internet? My fingers are crossed for you, buddy.

10 years ago | Likes 1 Dislikes 0

You know, when he's not jumping on couches or doing Scientology things, Tom Cruise seems like he'd be a pretty chill dude to hang with

10 years ago | Likes 343 Dislikes 8

No he killed chef (iassac Hayes ) he told iassac to come back to dark side of his religion and convinced him South park was pushing the line

10 years ago | Likes 3 Dislikes 8

Let's be honest here: How many of you let South Park form an opinion on him for you?

10 years ago | Likes 2 Dislikes 1

I heard he's one of the most present and engaging people you can talk to

10 years ago | Likes 25 Dislikes 1

Sounds like he's probably manic.

10 years ago | Likes 1 Dislikes 0

From all the podcasts I've listened with people who know and haved with him it seems like he's a very genuine dude

10 years ago | Likes 1 Dislikes 0

I watched the documentary Going Clear, and it sounded like he was try to separate from them.

10 years ago | Likes 4 Dislikes 0

He left the church. Abuse of some sort. Scientology being a cunt

10 years ago | Likes 64 Dislikes 0

have you seen Going Clear? Crazy great documentary about scientology, Tom Cruise a big part of it...

10 years ago | Likes 4 Dislikes 0

Afaik they forbade contact with his daughter, undesirables and all that

10 years ago | Likes 23 Dislikes 0

I read that as cult, still made sense.

10 years ago | Likes 5 Dislikes 0

I believe I've read people think he's no longer in the church by choice or is leaving.

10 years ago | Likes 99 Dislikes 0

Evidently he's not actually leaving, and is instead helping establish a TV network and film studio for Scientology, unfortunately.

10 years ago | Likes 2 Dislikes 0

Well, I've also read that people think unicorns exist. Doesn't really mean anything. Show me a unicorn and I'll believe, though.

10 years ago | Likes 26 Dislikes 0

I don't know if I believe you. Did you really read that?

10 years ago | Likes 1 Dislikes 0

I mean even if he did, he was still crazy enough to join.

10 years ago | Likes 2 Dislikes 0

Isn't it dangerous to leave? I read they do nasty things to you. Maybe he's keeping leaving quiet for a reason

10 years ago | Likes 16 Dislikes 0

Tom Cruise is very rich and famous. It'd be way harder for him to get secretly murdered.

10 years ago | Likes 12 Dislikes 1

He does seem like a really nice guy. Plus he's apparently a pretty good dude as well.

10 years ago | Likes 2 Dislikes 0

I've heard he is a total pro when it comes to work. First on set, last to leave, will do as many takes as needed without complaint.

10 years ago | Likes 1 Dislikes 0

Edge of Tomorrow was such a good movie

10 years ago | Likes 405 Dislikes 10

I loved everything about that movie until Tom Cruise was thrown like 100 feet from three stories up and was just like, na I'm good fam.

10 years ago | Likes 2 Dislikes 6

Am I the only person who thought it was Groundhog Day with guns? And less Bill Murray!

10 years ago | Likes 1 Dislikes 0

It deserved to do much better than it did.

10 years ago | Likes 1 Dislikes 0

So what happens when he dies of old age... does he go back? I want to know this!

10 years ago | Likes 1 Dislikes 0

I found it to be a resounding meh.

10 years ago | Likes 4 Dislikes 6

The movie with a dark souls mentality

10 years ago | Likes 2 Dislikes 0

Sure if you like a massive paradox. I mean it was still good but that paradox at the end....bleh.

10 years ago | Likes 7 Dislikes 6

Often the movies which have a twist in the end get the highest score even if otherwise the movie was not that special Take se7en for example

10 years ago | Likes 1 Dislikes 0

"I finished the game myself! But I still want do the 2 player thingy with you!"

10 years ago | Likes 2 Dislikes 1

Any time travelling movie is going to have a massive paradox, but I do agree that this one was a tad more obvious than others.

10 years ago | Likes 11 Dislikes 2

I just feel like it would of be way better if tom cruise actually sacrificed himself to save everyone. Heroes can die sometimes Hollywood.

10 years ago | Likes 5 Dislikes 1

Not if you hope to make a sequel.

10 years ago | Likes 1 Dislikes 0

It sure is. Had no expetations when I watched it and totally blew me away

10 years ago | Likes 36 Dislikes 1

Same for me. Sat down to watch going "Okay, whatever, let's do this" and ended it going "Omg, movies can still be good."

10 years ago | Likes 11 Dislikes 0

Same here. I'm glad I hadn't read it first like I have with most movies these days. Didn't expect much and really enjoyed it!

10 years ago | Likes 2 Dislikes 0

If I put away my biases of having read the book/manga, would it be a good film?

10 years ago | Likes 41 Dislikes 1

I thought it was awesome on its own merits, and I'm the type to go full-on 'obnoxious comicbook nerd' when it comes to western adaptations.

10 years ago | Likes 1 Dislikes 0

I read the manga, vastly prefer the movie

10 years ago | Likes 4 Dislikes 0

Yes, just think of it as an 'inspired by' and you'll do fine.

10 years ago | Likes 1 Dislikes 0

Never read the book/manga so yeah I liked it. I wached the percy jackson movie before reading the books so I actually like the movie.

10 years ago | Likes 3 Dislikes 2

Having never read the book/manga, yeah, sure. Why not.

10 years ago | Likes 50 Dislikes 0

I read the book, but not the manga. Took some thinking, because it's vastly different, but I STRONGLY prefer the movie ending. Loved both.

10 years ago | Likes 5 Dislikes 0

Movie definitely has a happier ending. ;)

10 years ago | Likes 6 Dislikes 0

That, yes, but honestly it felt more 'complete' if that makes sense. I really liked it.

10 years ago | Likes 2 Dislikes 0

I read the manga (2 issues or so?) and it's definitely the hollywood version, but it stands well on its own. (Was there a book?)

10 years ago | Likes 1 Dislikes 0

Absolutely.

10 years ago | Likes 1 Dislikes 0

I enjoyed what I saw of it. Saw it on a date and was a little... Distracted.

10 years ago | Likes 3 Dislikes 0

The anime it's based on is incredible.

10 years ago | Likes 3 Dislikes 4

He shoulda died.

10 years ago | Likes 6 Dislikes 3

I agree. Can't speak for source material, but every Tom Cruise movie ends with his "death" and coming back for the girl. Ever see Oblivion?

10 years ago | Likes 3 Dislikes 0

Oh ya ha two movies with a bunch of Tom Cruises...and happy endings :\

10 years ago | Likes 1 Dislikes 0

Oblivion was a pretty good movie though.

Yeah, I really enjoyed it too, just was a bit disappointed at the "Got the girl, didn't die lol" ending his movies usually do 1/2

10 years ago | Likes 1 Dislikes 0

(Yes, I'm aware it was a clone, but it all amounts to Tom Cruise gettin' that sweet pussy despite all odds). I'd respect a solemn ending 2/3

That looks so cool for reason! (0 - 0)

10 years ago | Likes 2 Dislikes 0

Just FYI everyone, #12 & #25 aren't real on-set photos, they're Annie Leibovitz photo shoot done after filming completed for a magazine.

10 years ago | Likes 54 Dislikes 1

I wish people would realize that for #25. as that pose doesnt come close to happening in the film.

10 years ago | Likes 5 Dislikes 0

The problem with the prequels all stemmed from a terrible script and mediocre performances. The CGI sets (props were real) were a small part

10 years ago | Likes 7 Dislikes 1

Instead of trying to make the CGI fit with a real scene they tried to make the scene fit with the CGI so nothing looks out of place.

10 years ago | Likes 3 Dislikes 0

And then there is #25, Ani looking like he's enjoying that saber contact...

10 years ago | Likes 14 Dislikes 0

I still think that pose makes no sense. Obi Wan's hands and feet say "fore-to-back slash" but Li'l Orphan Ani's block says "back-to-fore"...

10 years ago | Likes 5 Dislikes 1

I learned that although there's a ton of CGI in the prequels, a lot of what we think is CGI is not and is blended so well...

10 years ago | Likes 35 Dislikes 6

If you think the prequels didn't use a ton of built sets and props, and that the new one isn't using a ton of cgi and greenscreen....

10 years ago | Likes 2 Dislikes 0

That we think the whole scene is CGI. There were still scenes like #11 that were 99% CGI. Looking back I feel like

10 years ago | Likes 5 Dislikes 0

In a very blue world.

10 years ago | Likes 2 Dislikes 0

Apparently, more more miniatures and props were used in the prequels than the originals. Couldn't help the script though.

10 years ago | Likes 10 Dislikes 2

I should hope so. They've done nothing but constantly try to remind us that they're not the prequels since day one.

10 years ago | Likes 2 Dislikes 1

Hurr durr less CG hurr durr. Like there isnt a ton of green/bluescreens in the force awakens.

10 years ago | Likes 1 Dislikes 1

say what you want about the 2nd trilogy (and I'm sure someone will), but the costume design was fucking AMAZING.

10 years ago | Likes 7 Dislikes 1

And the fighting scenes are way better, i watched the first 3 movies a few months ago and the fighting scenes made me feel embarrassed.

10 years ago | Likes 1 Dislikes 1

You know what, you're right. Next time I'm talking about how much those movies suck rancid donkey dick, I will throw those people a bone.

10 years ago | Likes 2 Dislikes 0

you need to go back and watch the first ones mate, they're not all that much better

10 years ago | Likes 1 Dislikes 0

Kids I know who like both quote the original trilogy more easily than the second. That's when I concluded they're better & it's not just me.

10 years ago | Likes 1 Dislikes 0

I could've told you it's not just you. Lots of people hate the 2nd trilogy, and it's true that it's far less quotable, however, 1/2

10 years ago | Likes 1 Dislikes 0

/a/cIJQE An example of things we all thought we all thought were CGI. A lot were miniature sets though. So the actors lived

10 years ago | Likes 3 Dislikes 2

There's a growing school of thought among artists that more restrictions force you to be more creative and your art will turn out better.

10 years ago | Likes 178 Dislikes 4

Missa thinkin yousa right!

10 years ago | Likes 1 Dislikes 0

Jack White's philosophy behind the White Stripes.

10 years ago | Likes 2 Dislikes 0

that's not only a growing school of thought. That's just the case. Have you ever tried designing something with completely fee reign?

10 years ago | Likes 2 Dislikes 0

Restrictions have nothing to do with CGI. Fury Road had over 2,000 VFX shots but you would never know.

10 years ago | Likes 2 Dislikes 1

You never notice them because they we so restrained. Restraint has everything to do with good CGI.

10 years ago | Likes 1 Dislikes 0

I don't know what your definition of restrained is but having 2000 VFX shots is not restraint.

10 years ago | Likes 1 Dislikes 1

it is when it blended into physical and not just pure cgi

10 years ago | Likes 1 Dislikes 0

It is when you know what parts of the shots were CGI. No one is talking about how often you use CGI, we're talking about how you use it.

10 years ago | Likes 1 Dislikes 0

That's why when pixel art is done right. It is fucking amazing.

10 years ago | Likes 2 Dislikes 0

Ever watched the hour long review of phantom menace? Makes this point pretty profoundly. https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=FxKtZmQgxrI

Missa thinkin it was da most bombad one a them all!

10 years ago | Likes 1 Dislikes 0

Multiple times. Or even the behind the scenes of the original trilogy, those movies were a titanic struggle to make.

10 years ago | Likes 6 Dislikes 0

YES

10 years ago | Likes 4 Dislikes 0

Yes, I'm sad to say that so many people have to. It's sad how such a limited look at a movie can influence so many people.

10 years ago | Likes 4 Dislikes 3

It might be growing now, but it's really old. If Necessity is the mother of Invention, Constraint is the father.

10 years ago | Likes 11 Dislikes 0

1/2 For sure. I'm just hearing about it more and more frequently in interviews with artists in all kinds of genres. I've heard Ben Folds

10 years ago | Likes 4 Dislikes 0

I'm quoting that shit

10 years ago | Likes 2 Dislikes 0

2/2 bring it up about music, Richard Lewis mention it about comedy and JJ Abrams mention it about film-making -- all in the past few weeks.

Honestly, that's exactly what happened with the original Star Wars

10 years ago | Likes 59 Dislikes 1

Or the LOTR movies compared with The Hobbits. Forcing films to take place in a real universe forces creators to get *really* creative.

10 years ago | Likes 45 Dislikes 1

LOTR, too

10 years ago | Likes 7 Dislikes 0

That and George Lucas had either more or better editors.

Hello, fellow Plinkett Watchers

10 years ago | Likes 2 Dislikes 0

You mean actual set pieces and not pieces of cloth as sets?

10 years ago | Likes 2 Dislikes 0

Ok, I think I finally understand everyone's problems with prequels. I usually just hear that they suck, but this actually makes sense.

10 years ago | Likes 3 Dislikes 0

Sorry but i don't understand... you say more blue screen or more CGI means more creativity....? Or the opposite?

10 years ago | Likes 2 Dislikes 0

The opposite.

10 years ago | Likes 3 Dislikes 0

Ok thanks .
