They've been refining it for decades, and that you haven't seen, but others have, is a testament to how much of your private data/ browsing history / phone logs they've stolen to build a good picture of what is worth advertising to you.

But unlike automation of factories, this one just literally doesn't work. Almost no reports show AI actually saving money on average. Far more common are reports showing companies LOSING money due to AI lying (iirc the more advanced the AI, the BETTER it gets at lying instead of actually doing its job)
