I think that's an excuse to not bother with trying to build rapport first. Lots of meh dudes can do well if they don't lead with their dicks

If being exclusive carries no value to you, that's fine, but you can't expect everyone else to see things your way.
It's absolutely legitimate to show someone the door if you both agreed to be exclusive and they betray that trust. That's what this is.
