Yeah, government owned corporations would be communist.
That such conditions exist for workers is bad for the workers. Also 35 years is too long for that.

Also this creates a system of perverse incentives. The goal isn't rehabilitation but continual incarceration. Also a LOT of abuse.

A few service techs replace hundreds of warehouse/factory workers. Where do those workers go? They're not making 20 new factories for them.
More jobs doing what? Letting robots do the menial stuff is great, but those jobs aren't replaced by a similar number of anything.
