Bagpipes aren't specific to Scotland, contrary to popular belief.
The reasons for all that are complicated. Very complicated.
'Whiskey' is US and Irish; Whiskey is Scottish and Japanese. Canada's a bit more complicated, but is generally without-an-e.
I can tell you as an Irishman, it's more complicated than that.
What the Scottish refer to as bagpipes, we refer to as 'war pipes' or 'great pipes', because we use uillean pipes for *real* music. ☺
