It's a lot easier to stay onside when the crosser is just about level and the ball is played sideways, as opposed to forwards.
The ref isn't going to call offside if the linesman doesn't put his flag up.
Agreed, if it was immediately and you could rely on the connection. Otherwise temp storage may be useful.
You don't necessarily need physical access to an SD card to retrieve data from it.
