If they change the system and use collective bargaining more effectively they could reduce the costs - for everyone - massively.

The government has a lot more bargaining power than individuals do. The US gov. has lost that power because they work inside a broken system

The key difference is how the government pays; in the UK if they get a massive bill for a drug they tell the company to fuck off. 1)

And the US has a) the resources and population of an entire continent b) a stable history with little warfare - hardly a fair comparison. 2)

What are the 'cultural costs' of UHC? The NHS is seen as an integral part of UK society - hardly a negative. 1)

Oh god no, I've never seen the comics Atom before and I'm so glad they went the tech-armour route. Looks so much better than this would be.

It's definitely all about a)better detection and b) willingness to be tested rather than refusing due to the stigma.

I'm a teacher, this year I have ~10 kids with diagnoses. Even when I was a HS student (10 Y.A.) none of these would be called 'autistic' 1)

One officer tackles him to the ground then 3-4 other help pin him. if you watch at least 1 is throwing kidney punches and 1 is kicking him..

They didn't even give the guy a chance to react to the "on the ground" command before they tackled him. This case was pure excessive force.

To pull him over, yes. To dog pile him and throw a few punches/kicks into him while he's on the ground? No way in hell. 1)

Because who's in charge if 9/11 2.0 happens? Or Iran decides to nuke Israel? There needs to be a clear, continuous chain of command.

Used to be glad Scotland is technically a separate system; then i found out the funding is tied to England - you lose out and so do we :/

Yep, flat lemonade is disgusting.

9 years ago | Likes 6 Dislikes 9

All lemonade in the UK does. You only really see flat lemon juice as a cordial or at a health shop; everywhere else is fizzy.

9 years ago | Likes 7 Dislikes 8

Because lemonade is a generic term for lemon flavoured fizzy juice. Nobody asks for sprite, you ask for lemonade and sprites a cheap version

The point of the lemonade is to take the edge off the bitterness of the beer, not to make it even more bitter.

9 years ago | Likes 1 Dislikes 1

Wait, Americans use lemon juice to make shandies? That just sounds utterly revolting.

Its a cultural thing that gives a sense of history and continuity. It's a living version of the US obsession with the founding fathers.

Like what?! I pay £50 and my wife pays £7 a month. I don't even get paid $1700 a month after tax!

I'm 99% sure I've seen the plane version before. And not just online, as part of the actual movie...

Which makes sense; western kids were raised on European fairytales. Why wouldn't you tell those stories first? You know people know them.

We used to do this in school; crank the treadmill upto max speed and see who could last the longest. Doesnt mean we could run at that speed.

Or even easier: small, medium and large. Doesn't rely on knowing how big an ounce is and everyone knows what it means.

By the time you've got the warning and gone to the room little Timmy will have already painted the ceiling...

Whats the point in setting 1? So what if you get notified its touched? If you just need to charge it to remove the lock its a shitty lock.

And the UK has a much broader definition of violent crime than the US as a whole; we count more crimes than you do so our rate looks higher.
