unless you smile like someone paranoid about getting eye wrinkles, I think there's enough facial clues someone is smiling even with a mask.
My gf and I have been wearing them for 3 years for various reasons, the best part is no one asks why anymore.
He's caught a good number of falls and has managed to restabilize it, it's part of the fun of watching him.
