To get up to higher weights you would do 3-5 reps 3-4 sets very slow and controlled. But your body will hurt

Medium would be enough for you to do 12-15 reps 4 sets. I did leg press, squat, and deadlifts, my arms were always my weak point.

Do a lighter weight with explosive reps, or a medium weight really slow and controlled. Deadlift always hurt my back. My issue was leg press
