Lol I don't use either FB or Google for chats. Discord and IRC. That's cool tho, there's a lot of clients out there for this I'm sure.
World War 2 Online uses IRC occasionally, a couple communities in Elite Dangerous, one or two PVP guilds in Elder Scrolls Online.
Several gaming communities in in use IRC. There are dedicated IRC clients but it's nice to have Pidgin to switch between them when possible.
That's how we view it in MA. If it's not NYC it's Upstate NY.
