They're staining the beams a slightly lighter shade. Being as they're pine beams, they should stain softer even with the same mixture.

CA glue is great for pen blanks. Finish them while still on the lathe, let dry, sand and repeat.
I would prefer smooth ceilings but alas, I'm just the poor cabinet guy. Haha
She's going to be doing a dark granite. We sub out our counter top people since we aren't set up for granite or quartz.
It's only the second one I've seen in a house in the years I've been doing cabinetwork. They're wild to come across!
