Sigh. I had a dramatic allergic reaction to a blood transfusion years ago. I didn't know what was happening, but I knew I didn't feel right, and I was scared, so I alerted the nurse. She was clearly annoyed with me and refused my requests for assistance. I ended up vomiting on her shoes, then collapsing on her. I do not feel bad.

For acute menorrhagia: blood transfusions to replace half my blood volume, plus hormone treatment and protein injections to hit the "off" switch on my period and bleeding. The doctors could explain why it happened only up to a point.

Oof. Why is it so common for doctors to ignore women? The number of times I've been ignored or told something was all in my head, only to eventually uncover a genuine diagnosis after years of fighting.... Before I ended up in the hospital, I explained to my psychiatrist how much I had been bleeding, and he told me I was wrong. I'd lost consciousness twice from blood loss and was pale as a ghost, but he told me I must be exaggerating.

My period literally tried to kill me when I was 16. I started bleeding, and it wouldn't stop. I nearly bled to death. If not for a nearly retired doctor who had witnessed the same ailment once 50 years before during her residency, no one in the hospital would've known how to treat me. My husband now refers to the period that nearly killed me as my ellipsis....

Siriraj Medical Museum, nicknamed the Museum of Death, in Bangkok showcases forensic cases from across Thailand, and a LOT of them are tragic accidents.

This. Telegram and similar apps are also used by government dissidents, advocates against large private sector or organized crime interests (like environmental activists), and other such very GOOD things where protecting privacy is something we might all WANT. Telegram is even among the primary sources of information for those in Ukraine about the war, including missile attacks and other threats.

Sadly, what benefits child abusers, terrorists, and other criminals also benefits these groups.

For those saying it should be a green to red scale: red/green is the most common form of color blindness, whereas a single color toned scale like this can be more accessible to those with color blindness.

Something similar happened to be -- different industry, and I did the job well for a few years before it became unsustainable, but at a certain point, it did become unsustainable. It's okay if this job isn't a fit for you. Looking for another opportunity (internally or externally) is not failure, and it's not a backward step. You've learned more about what you do/don't want, what you excel at and what stifles you -- that's good! Take that, and find a better fit.

Check-in with your local animal control and/or shelter too. I found a pet ferret on the street years ago and took it to a shelter.

NO food of ANY kind is EVER left out. Or it disappears.

Trashcan now lives in a custom-built corral built into the wall so it can't be knocked over. Food lives in the firmly closed closet. (2/?)

My brother has one like this. He has a locking trashcan, but the cat would just knock it over and bump it around until it broke open (1/?)

My doctor told me to tell the insurance company I'm being deployed to get around this exact situation. Sure, but that's not a solution.

I used to do this as a kid! When those little cheeses were handed out on planes, I walked up and down the aisle to ask everyone for the wax.

What about the will of the people? Our democracy shouldn't be driven by a minority, whether or not they can put together the money.

But it's not just about the money.... What about environmental impacts? What about the private land rights? (1/2)
