The pits (and small walls) are dug to help collect water and to protect the vine from the wind (as an island in the middle of the Atlantic, it gets a lot of wind, but not much rain). There is a single vine in each hole, so this is not an efficient use of space compared to vineyards not on volcanic islands. Source - the tour of these very vineyards that I went on in March.

My wife and I want to have children, but we are of the mind of "if it happens, it happens" because the alternative is a much, much easier life. Compare to my friend in Sweden who is having his second, and who receives childcare for free courtesy of the Swedish government, and it's mind boggling we are where we are...

Feels like a bit of a strawman argument is presented in this clip. For the record, I'm pro choice. Speaking from experience, the company will show you little loyalty if the choice is financial hardship or getting rid of you. And your coworkers are certainly looking at better paid jobs, too.
As with the meme about copying Scandinavian policies, I usually just go "fine, he was socialist. We agree he was a shit. Let's do the opposite to what he was doing. Bring in pro-immigration policies, nationalised industries, high taxes for the richest people etc."
