i never up or downvote anything because it literally doesn't fucking matter. fight me

I don’t think it’s about thin skin. I just think it’s dated and weird.

My friends don’t mock appearances though.

Thank you. I was wondering, because I thought opals were opa-que. This helps.

Yeah I feel like there's a little more involved when it comes to taking down a zebra vs. catching a vole.

I don't care about the racism aspect, but exaggerating your flaws seems like a great way to make someone feel insecure about how they look. I don't find these offensive, just kinda not desirable.

I don't understand the point of caricatures. They just seem insulting.

I was riding with a friend of mine to a festival, and I passed some No Kings protestors. I waved to them, happy to see them. Then my friend, who I found out that day is MAGA, said, "These protestors are so stupid. Trump isn't a King!"

Yes. That's the point.

Anyway I have no friends now.

Best comment: "I seriously have no idea how this scene made it through the entire production process without anyone who worked on it realizing how unintentionally hysterical it is."

as soon as someone uses the word "demonic" and they aren't talking about fantasy demons from fantasy land, like they're talking about actual satanic influence, i stop listening to whoever's speaking.

i don't doubt it's happening, but it's not demonic. it's specifically human

> mass extinction, and in the others in Earth's history, is that this one is directly caused by humans, not by an overabundance of plankton in the oceans (causing an oxygen depletion earth's oceans) or a mess of volcanos or a cosmic like a meteor striking the earth.

If the humans revert their behavior the Earth would (slowly) drift back to its natural norms.

CAN'T we reverse the damage?

I'm not trying to downplay the urgency of climate change, but nature is surprisingly resilient. Fragile, yes, but what endures can actually thrive again if given the chance.

If we dramatically reduced the amount burning fossil fuels, deforestation, and industrial pollution, the Earth would eventually revert to a state of equilibrium again with all natural and unnaturally occurring forces. As it has done in every mass extinction event. The difference between THIS >

Oh yeah, it is AI isn't it? It's the stars.

Watching this fucking enrages me. They are completely IGNORING his personhood over this cop who's upset about what she did... to him.

"You saw how upset you made her by making that stuff public?" YES he saw how upset she was--what about how upset HE was when he feared losing his life and his kids' life to HER? Why doesn't that matter?

But this guy posting questions (her lawyer?) just keeps ignoring how it's valid for HIM to be upset too. And if she was really so upset, she should be contrite.

It's just bluster. He's not second-guessing. He wants their oil, he needs it. He's just acting like, "Well I don't REALLY need it."

But please know that I do 100% empathize with the realization you had to grapple with being such a big fan. It's hard to go through that.

I understand the arguments, but it's still centered around servicing men, which is kinda weird. I do like the idea of sex workers being respected and treated with dignity, but I don't understand why "whore" was still an insult in that universe if that was the case.

And a lot of fans did interpret it in the best light--which is valid for them. Their interpretations as pure. But THEN you look at it through the lens of who Joss Whedon really is and what he intended and... yeah. It's rough.

> trying to say "oh no women WANT to do this, they find pleasure in providing physical comfort to me." And while I think a lot of people saw it as giving her dignity and agency, to me it just made her look she was happily servile. Like her most fulfilling purpose is as a sex mommy.

Good on you for being able to resolve the cognitive dissonance and change your opinion. A LOT of people (my ex included) are diehard fans and refuse to hear criticism about the show.

I like the whole space western vibe, and I respect the actors who were part of it. I think Mandalorian season 1 and 2 did a better job of capturing the vibe than Joss Whedon's girl-trauma-centric show.

I also think it's... dubious, the whole ship-whore thing. I don't think it's empowering for women so much as >

Forgot to mention Alan Tudyk. I’d say I love him too but it would be an understatement.

I’ll watch it if Joss Whedon has nothing to do with it this time. Love Nathan Fillion. Not a fan of Joss.

Unless you want a live action reboot where everyone is 30 years older.

My italian friend would say that ALL THE TIME, "If my grandmother had wheels, she'd be a bicycle". We'd never heard it before he came to work with us.

The warning is about LLMs, like ChatGPT and Gemini. The AI reading license plates is a different animal and accountability falls differently. AI isn’t collectively the same product.

I disagree with the spirit of #1. It seems bitter about the fact that you CAN’T rely on AI and that it’s not accountable for being wrong.

Of course it isn’t. It’s not human. Its content is more or less randomly generated. When it’s wrong, it’s CONFIDENTLY wrong and this can feel deceptive, making you want to blame the AI when you can’t rely on the information.

“AI can be wrong” IS reminding you not to take the AI result as gospel. Same as social media news.

What was your criticism of him back then? I know insider tech bros were wary of him, but he was less visibly crazy back then.

No shame in being bamboozled and thinking the best of people. You should be proud that not only did you come to see the light, but you haven't forgotten the past.

He was widely celebrated. He had a guest star spot on the Simpsons in 2015, where he played himself as a visionary genius who was going to help the power plant. He lands in like a personal helicopter thing.

I know it's popular to rewrite the past and forget that it ever happened, but even THIS SITE was big about Elon Musk until he started getting weird about the kids who were trapped in the cave (that's when his true self started to show through).
