Zoologist, keeper, gamer, artist. Seeking opportunities to work with exotic and local wildlife. All about education and conservation! Instagram @androze_
Grunt was on the list of names I was considering for him! I imagine this guy's speaking voice would sound like Steve Blum too.
There's six here, they're all different! OJ is sweet and patient, Gus is needy for food and pets, and Ralph is shyest but loves the water.
..Depends on who you ask, I'm biased! OZ is doubling in size this year with new exhibits for rescued CA native species. We're very excited!
Salmonella is carried by most living things. The issue is with cleanliness; if you maintain proper pet care and hygiene there's little risk.
I interned there last year! Very cool place, still love to visit.
You can visit him at the Oakland Zoo!
Some of my coworkers have! I was a Wildlife and Conservation Bio student at UC Davis.
I work in Oakland, the hat is from when I interned for Cal Academy last year. Both are awesome places to visit!
Turtles are a different story but tortoises are all herbivores, unless your hand is mistaken for a veggie they won't nip at a human.
Tortoises are ectotherms meaning they do not produce their own body heat, so he is roughly the same temperature as the environment we're in.
You look away for a second and then they're upon you like a weeping angel.
Not polish but they really love baths! Last time I filled up their pool they were charging to get under the hose.
Leonardo da Pinchy
They're all under infraorder Gekkota so they are still geckos, just unique enough to form their own separate group of ~30 species.
I've known Pastor Morgan for many years, he's an intelligent soul and a refreshingly forward-thinking individual leading my parents' church.
From what I've heard, beardies are a lot more work! He eats Pangea/Repashy diet like for Crested geckos you can find at any pet store.
97! My dad's passed on to me, don't know how I'd get by without it. Holds all my field gear and several animals at a time.
Serpentarium in Elk Grove. If you're truly interested join Leachianus Classifieds on FB to see what breeders have available this season!
He's got little teeth but their diet consists mostly of fruit with occasional insects, so he just laps up the mix with his big tongue.
Leos are actually in a different family, Eublepharidae, which lack adhesive toepads and have movable eyelids. Very cool little guys too!
Poster session. Just got it back from the printers on campus! Nervous but looking forward to sharing about the project.
Some have teensy legs like skinks, these have none at all! Fossorial species are often limbless as legs just get in the way when burrowing.
A snake, no. Lizards however I've been bitten plenty during research surveys. As we say at the zoo to guests anything with a mouth can bite!
That's true for species like Day geckos! Gekkonidae is a huge diverse family, some are fine to handle but others are best for display only.
He's actually very sweet! All leachies are fairly cage aggressive and he's no exception, but out in the open being held he's quite calm.
What a cute wrinkle! Beautiful patterns on him too.
People either love his eyes or hate them. They're nocturnal which is why the pupils are so narrow in light, in the dark they're much rounder
Pretty slow compared to the little ones. They can move quick in short bursts but they're quite heavy, speed is not their forte.
Hey! Always nice to see keepers here, Imgur needs more cool animals and their people.
Awesome! I bet if it's a GT he must be huge.
