They dont taste like a cucumber pickle at all, though the texture is similar. Very briney. That same company makes some good hot sauces and chili crisp that have kelp in them as well.

Typically, when you do crusted salmon, whether that is almond/pecan crusted or parmesan, you crust the meat side rather than the skin. Flavors don't penetrate the skin very well, and some people don't eat the skin at all, so flavoring the meat is generally preferred.

Placing it in an over, or possibly sous vide, to get it nearly up to full cooking temp, and then briefly searing it at a high heat. The idea being to get a good sear or char on the meat without overcooking the center.

Sometimes, there is a litte sheet metal in the back thar is bumping against the plug going into the wall. If it's just that little bit of sheet meta,l you might be able to snip or dremel it away and get another inch that you can push the range back. I've done it a few times.
