I somewhat get what you’re trying to say but, they choose to report inside the volcano while it was erupting. They could have chosen to be someplace else entirely and report on the stock market or something not as deadly as someone who does war zone reporting. Same goes for all them doctors without borders (and other orgs) that choose a zone of conflict to help (and face the dangers both mentally and physically voluntarily).
