We don't use this because acetylene burns quite dirty unless you give it alot of oxygen, its also explosive under certain conditions or with certain metals like copper. Gas tanks for acetylene have to be filled with open cell foam and the gas dissolved in acetone just so it can be safely stored under pressure. When out of the tank anywhere over 15psi can render it spontaneously explosive

Wouldn't work due to both the thermal conductivity of the aluminum and the thermal capacity of the liquid inside, the aluminum wouldn't even start to melt until all the liquid has boiled off. Also even though aluminum melts at a lower temp then steel you have to weld it at a higher temp because of its higher conductivity.

Yes! Mildy radioactive but emits alpha particles so really only hazardous if you were to consume or inhale its dust.

Usually yes however sometime the weld can weaken the surrounding material. Often the area near a weld fails and not the weld itself.
