Photoshop is what I use for pixel art, just use the pencil tool instead of the brush tool. Turning on grid lines can help
Now it's just Photoshop CC (creative cloud) and it's automatically updated each year. I still own the CS5 disks though

Cameras and all were good pictures. Better camera does mean better quality and resolution but still. I own a Canon 70D and it's pretty nice.
It's not very important. A modern dslr should be fine. I have friends who used Canon 5d Mark IV's, rebels, and Nikon full frame (3/?)

Not OP and can't speak to what they used but most people I know used a strong neutral density filter (12-16 stops to let much less (1/?)
