I originally took this username because of that stupid joke. Now I've grown attached to it even though the time has long passed. If someone gets this to the front page, I'll be really fuckin' salty because it's stupid and nothing I post ever makes it there.
Fun fact: the dry weight of poop is up to 50% pure bacteria. That’s why disrupting the balance is not a minor thing. They literally have a procedure called a fecal transplant (yes, it’s exactly what it sounds like) to get someone’s gut biome back on track because bacteria are so important for our digestive health.
I mean, it’s risk vs. reward. If you bred ultra-aggressive livestock they’d be more likely to kill you and then that kind of defeats the purpose of raising them. If you can manage predators some other way then docile livestock makes more sense.
I can’t tell if that was written by an underperforming 8 year old or a surprisingly competent republican.
That’s why I’m skeptical of shit like this. Trump didn’t get worse, he literally hit the ground running with absolutely fuckery before he was even in office. If you liked 2015-2025 and just now changed your mind about Trump, you are a complete piece of shit and should be thrown into a Volcano—you are not better than the people who still fantasize about gargling Trump’s crusty sac. You finally realized it tastes bad but the pubes are still stuck in your teeth.
Copilot suggested 405 in some ghost text once and it somehow propagated throughout the whole app whenever there’s a try/catch block in a promise.
Status codes are a paradigm like REST or SOLID. There is no framework or system that enforces them unless a developer writes one. Imgur could be spitting out 400 or 405 or even 404 just for shits and giggles even if the error is happening on the server or if there’s no error at all. I’ve even returned 200 no matter what and just had fucked up/missing content instead of a legit error message.
Until you get a 304 which basically means “You already have this version stop trying to download it again!” Which is literally just a notification that you ain’t getting shit unless you clear your cache.
The secret no one tells you: the server can kick back any status code the programmer wants, it’s all arbitrary. Visit my website and if something goes wrong it’s always your fault, I return 405 for every error because I’m too lazy to implement meaningful error handling.
When you compare it to being responsible for the deaths of millions, it’s at least the lesser of two evils.
This may be a case where instead of cutting your parents out of your life you should probably cut their brake lines.
Shitting*
It could be entirely true and it would still make no fucking sense. If a car was driving directly at me and I had an automatic rifle in each arm I would still drop that shit and MOVE out of the way because shooting at the vehicle is very unlikely to change its momentum. In fact it makes collateral damage and casualties more likely, as we saw.
To justify what now? Unless you’re packing a Bazooka, no type of ammunition is going to stop a 3-6,000 lbs. vehicle and killing the operator is far more likely to cause more destruction than prevent it. It’s like these people have some type of sexual fetish for flimsy pretexts.
On clothes? No. I spend more than that on groceries every month though, and I’m only feeding 2 adults and a large cat. I’ve been wearing the same 3 shirts and 2 pairs of pants since 2020.
I can imagine a scenario where she helped orchestrate the whole thing because he was abusing her and the kids (mentally, physically, pick your poison). It’s a Lifetime Original movie at worst.
“Damned whiteys”? You actually have a Christmas selfie posted so I can say with confidence, I am whiter than you. This isn’t about “making everything about race” but that’s the exact shit that racist-ass people say because they are in utter denial about their own racism, let alone the rest of the world. You’re just taking a page out of Charlie Kirk’s playbook. I’ll bet my paycheck you were a fan or at least posted some vaguely sympathetic bullshit on social media when he was assassinated.
Pretty privilege isn’t exclusive to white people but I called it an extension of white privilege because it is. Aside from having the same type of qualifiers (visual) they often are directly related. Ever wonder why fair means both “beautiful” and “light skinned”? Colorism is real everywhere & throughout history. Anyone can experience pretty privilege but it is amplified immensely by light skin—not that I was even focusing on that point originally.
And to add to that, statistically people aesthetically rate people with similar racial features generally higher than others and “white” identified people are the majority in the US so both pretty and white privileged are heavily correlated with each other here. It’s not a judgement against white people; it’s just an acknowledgment that being white, attractive, healthy, wealthy, cisgendered and heterosexual affords certain advantages, which can affect access to certain opportunities.
The reason they’re linked is because the mechanism of the privilege is the same. There are all kinds of privileges people experience without realizing it. “Pretty” and “white” privilege both operate on the fact that people judge outward appearance and the people experiencing the privilege have limited/no control over it. Vs. Hetero privilege which us queer folk have been taking advantage of via “passing” for centuries. Nobody’s pandering, it’s just semantics.
AKA pretty-people privilege, an extension of light-skinned (see: White) privilege. A lot of people can’t wrap their head around that concept. Would Luigi Mangione be a folk hero if he was 50 lbs. heavier with acne? Maybe, maybe the evil of the insurance industry would be enough to get people on his side—but color me absolutely skeptical as fuck.
People want the person they’re attracted to to have confidence and make the first move and they want the people they’re not attracted to to stay indoors and never approach anyone. It’s not just straight women, literally everyone has these feelings but we all process them differently (hopefully most of us recognize how unreasonable it actually is).
That’s an oversimplification. If I ask it to help me optimize an 800-line script it will but it almost always will try to recommend a bunch of small individual fixes I have to figure out where to put. If ask it for a “drop in” replacement file it will do that instead but only if I ask and it definitely takes way longer to respond. It’s not just the LLM math, it’s sub-behavior intended to conserve output tokens (so maybe cheap is a better word than lazy).
Honestly it astounds me how lazy ChatGPT can be. I assume it’s to conserve tokens and resources but it ends up being like pair programming with the laziest asshole imaginable who always does the least possible. And every time it just says, “Good catch!” Like why the fuck am I catching your mistakes to begin with?
Rotten tomatoes is kinda bullshit. 7% means that 93% of review scores were under 60% which means everyone could have rated it 5.9/10 and a few people rated it higher so maybe the actual average approval is around 60% but the RT score is 7%—making the film appear absolutely reviled when really most reviews were kinda “meh”.
I don’t recommend that, gets me kicked out of public restrooms every time.
I legit thought stuff was at least slightly going down because my local Walmart grocery store had a ton of sales last week. I guess it was just a bait and switch because the same shit is now back up higher than it was before, I was flabbergasted. Eggs are literally the only thing that went down since January but it’s baking season so I fully expect them to be right back up to “This is why we can’t elect Kamala!” Levels very soon.
I thought that said “killed” instead of “thrilled” and, as a gay, I felt bad for completely agreeing. There’s nothing worse to me than queer people who buy into conservatism; just go back into the closet and blow randos in a park bathroom like a normal Republican.
We don’t need people who are completely ignorant of civics; we just need new people who aren’t elderly and treat politics like a source of passive income. Nobody in congress should be over 50—not because older people have less value but because it shouldn’t be a life-long career. You can still converse with the older generation for their insights and experience. All branches need term limits, arguably even judiciary because the lack thereof has clearly NOT prevented extreme partisanship there.
Career politicians are mostly bad but if you swing too far in that direction… why do you think Trump was such an attractive option in 2016?
It all depends on how you calculate it. If you order the participants by income level, median is great on a bell curve but could be totally whack otherwise—the median is just the income that happened to be in the middle. But how else can you order them so the median makes sense? Even with median you’d want to bracket things. There’s a reason surveys about this always have a salary range, the bracketing is just a necessity.
