They make many different noises but I think he is making the sound of a hurt rabbit.
It's been a while since my animal nutrition class but this much I know for sure.
Cats on the other hand are the STRICTEST of carnivores. They will die if they don't get the amino acid, taurine, from their diet.
Dogs are considered to be strict carnivores by most(even me at one point) but they are omnivorous. Though they do lean more carnivores.
