To be fair for the 2 game of thrones ones that chose scenes from the last season, the show had already been bad for a good 2-3 seasons before. Eurons introduction was so great and in the books he's a major villain and then the rest of his screen time he was just a jack sparrow cosplayer. You can really tell when they ran out of books to adapt.

Any good psychologist would say the same thing as you. They know nothing is universal, it'll be more like "hey try these things next time you feel this way, if that doesn't work, try these other ones, if it helps you can mix and match as needed". You go to the murder mystery, the victim is dressed as one of the diners or something, you solve it by realizing the victim is the real chef, and the current chef is just pretending to cover up their crime, you know this because the food sucks. After it's solved, the real (good) food comes out and you have dinner.

My philosophy on books is if I liked it, someone I know will probably also like it, I give to them, if I can't think of anyone it goes into a local free library. If I didn't like it, maybe someone else will, local free library. If I loved it and it is an instant favorite of mine, those I do keep.
In my country the way it used to work was you prepaid your phone and texting cost money, if you texted someone without having money it would send out a "X is trying to reach you" to the receiver. I had a friend who I made a system with, sending one of those was let's hang out, sending 2 in a row was let's meet at a prearranged place, 3 was I'm not gonna make it, and 4 was this is important be there ASAP
