Not to mention Rottnest Island is only a small population compared to the mainland and a genetic dead end as it's too inbred. The ones on the mainland are also afraid of humans as they should be given they arent fed by every Tom, Deborah and Harry.

Along with needing soft soil like others mentioned, potentially too much nitrogen. Feeds the leafy parts which grow strong at the expense of growing the carrot.
