No, they don't. They don't want a woman that can defend herself or her home or children, because they view that as solely the man's job. They want a woman who is reliant on them for protection. This validates their own (perceived) strength and value. And also means the woman cannot defend herself *against* them, conveniently. They perceive any strength or agency or autonomy in a woman to be a threat. They don't want a wife who is an equal, they want a wife they can *possess*.
None of which should be interpreted to say the US "lead" the world through WWII or especially WWI. Like many things, Entente victory in WWI and Allied victory in WWII was a collaborative effort requiring the cooperation of all involved nations. While France (WWI) and the USSR (WWII) suffered much of the burden of those wars, I find it somewhat meaningless to try and dick measure over who contributed/suffered the most.
Japan was under an oil embargo from the US prior to Pearl (it was one of Japan's main motivations for Pearl, actually) and trade with Germany had already fallen off a cliff prior to 1939, swiftly drawing to near zero when the Royal Navy began blockading the European coast. Conversely, US trade, including arms, grew greatly with Allied nations like the UK and USSR even prior to Pearl. US "neutrality" was something of a fig leaf even prior to Pearl, tbh.

3 incidents in about 70 years, two of which had relatively marginal health effects and overall consequences. That's actually a pretty good record overall, and nuclear energy has one of the best mortality/unit energy rates along with solar and wind.
If you're not going to the funeral, that's not family love, kick or no kick. "Love with a kick" doesn't make anyone feel hurt or sad or angry.
No. Earlier in the poem Frost makes it quite clear neither path is less travelled. They are "just as fair", "worn...really about the same", and "lay in leaves no step had trodden black". It is only "ages and ages" later that the speaker of the poem will claim that one path was less traveled by. The final line indicates a retroactive justification of a past decision even though both paths are originally identical.
They weren't precisely "local administrators". Taxes outside Rome were collected by "publicani" which are more accurately private companies owned by shareholders. The contractual obligations arose from the "publicani" bidding against each other. Whoever bid the highest amount of taxes collected won the right to collect taxes in that area, but then had to pay Rome that amount over the course of the contract. Any tax collected in excess of the bid was, as you said, profit for the shareholders.

He didn't 'violate the regs' so much as he was operating on different regs than everyone else thought.
As an asst. manager I've had to tell *so many* of my own employees that, no, it is *not* illegal to discuss wages. So many think it is.

May I ask why? Is it because graffiti means people?
Yeah but you shouldn't put people in a position where they face that possibility if they say 'no'. You're putting an unfair burden on them.
stalking or hounding that person repeatedly while they're working. I'd still strongly recommend against it unless you're sure of the answer.
Ehhh. Flipside is now you've given someone the option of accepting or risking problems with a regular. I've seen shit like that turn to 1/2

I'd say willing suspension of disbelief is actually easier with more fantastic and unfamiliar elements. Running in woods is neither of those
