As someone with ADHD and also suspected to be on the spectrum by my mom, it's annoying. It feels like certain mental conditions are trendy to think you have on social media. Autism and ADHD are apparently the hot "in" thing on tiktok these days. It's fucking stupid. I hate tiktok so much. You're right in that there's a ton of shit that's like "oh this is such an autism/ADHD thing!" when it's just a common thing. It happened a TON with OCD back in the day. OCD isn't just "I like things orderly."
100% agreed with this point. The biggest difference between then and now is decades of right wing propaganda and the conservative media ecosystem. Back then, people just watched normal-ass news and that was about it. That said, gamergate very much did very quickly devolve into just woman hating. It was a gateway drug into the alt-right pipeline. Both things can be true. I say this as someone who was in (and very much enjoyed) a gender studies class, and even worked for the gender studies dept for a while. Not everything has to be a binary either/or.
Yeah I don't know what MAGA people folks are around, but I'm not seeing any of this in my family or my area of the country. They love Trump and vote R no matter what. Their beliefs haven't changed, nothing has changed. They literally don't even know anything bad he or the GOP have done. If you confront them with anything, they dismiss it. If it's so irrefutable (like gas prices) they can't dismiss it, they'll change the subject. They don't care. I've heard *zero* criticism of Trump from them.

Yeah maybe this is a trend that's happening, but I've yet to see it at *all* in reality. I haven't met or known a single conservative/Trump voter to change their tune on him and realize they've been wrong. Not one. I've never heard them admit fault in anything they believe, ever. Anything shitty Trump has done/caused they dismiss out of hand and "what about [insert Democrat]." If it's irrefutable, they change the subject. Their views and voting habits remain exactly the same, though.
What I hear is usually: A bunch of made up bullshit about how evil democrats are, bigoted shit about "illegals" or LGBT people, "DEI," and them just liking Trump because he's a "smart businessman" and "tells it like it is" despite him lying non-stop. He just speaks like a fucking moron, and a bigot, and is a raging narcissist, so that all appeals to them. He validates everything shitty about them.

Takes a certain kind of person to say "killing brown people in the middle of nowhere for no fucking reason? Hell yeah, sign me up! I've been wanting to do that!" or, to see all that and say "sure, I'll do it, I need the money." That's a mercenary, not a hero/beacon of morality. A guy I went to high school with *couldn't wait* to join the Marines. He said he really wanted to shoot people and couldn't wait to be allowed to/paid to do so. He wasn't kidding.

I'm aware that this is very much not the popular opinion, but I just don't get Firefly having that level of worship. It's just ok. Watched it all the way through and thought it was just alright. Battlestar Galactica is kind of awful. I had to force myself to watch a lot of it just because I wanted to see if it eventually got good and capitalized on its cool premise/universe. So much of it is stupid and frustrating to watch, and the characters are awful. Badly contrived drama for the sake of it.

Agreed. His show is the lamest of all the late night talk shows I've seen in the past 30 years. It's just so bland, generic, and toothless. I thought he was a really weak cast member on SNL back in the day. It was utterly baffling to me that he got a late night show after that. How?! Why?!

Civil War was such an aggressively stupid, pointless movie it actually made me mad the more I thought about it. Hard-hitting scenes just for the sake if it. It doesn't make an actual point, it doesn't take a side, it doesn't capitalize on the moment we're currently in in history, none of that. Just "war is bad guys, there's violence." Reasons? Non-existant. Context? Doesn't matter. Just shock-scenes strung together in a movie with absolutely nothing to say. The acting is great, though.

As someone who is also hard of hearing, they're god awful. They're so immensely distracting. I can read a sentence in just a second or two anyway, this isn't faster for me, it's *only* more distracting. Normal subs let you read them at your own pace, and don't absolutely scream for attention. They also let you read ahead, AND read backwards, so it's better for comprehension of what is being said while still not being a fireworks display on the screen detracting from the actual video content.
