In ME2, make sure you do ALL the loyalty missions, and make sure you buy ALL the Normandy upgrades, before going for the final mission.
The loyalty missions are missions that are unlocked after talking to your crew. They're specific missions for each member.
In ME2, make sure you keep your paragon/renegade score high, especially after loyalty missions. If not, you'll risk losing teammembers.
In ME1, for the love of God, HELP WREX GET HIS FAMILY ARMOR. If not, make sure you have a maxed out paragon/renegade score before Virmire.
