Valve saw the opportunity for games to become a status symbol, thus creating trading cards and achievements + tracking of time spent playing
It's like Black Friday, but 4x a year and by large, we spend the money on games we don't play anyway.
Not to shit on Steam or anything, but isn't it peculiar? Valve has managed to create a situation where we're happy to spend money on games.
The illusion is that the tracks seem to be turning, when infact theyre straight. Try closing one eye and looking in the "fuzzymode"
