Don't turn off the shock sensor, I have no idea why OP would think it stops recording after it senses a shock. It locks the current file from being overwritten because it will have the accident footage in it.
It's a pretty normal thing that happens to all sorts of brains.

It isn't always a law passed by parliament. For instance in Belgium it is actually illegal to record someone without their permission. However there's no literal law that says this (there's some basis for it in a civil law) but it's firmly established in legal precedence. Considering Camembert is 4-5 hours from Belgium...
