usually if a letter is repeated, the scale has more than 7 steps, or is doing something chromatic.
If possible, they make the scale in sequence and then add the sharps and flats. So, with Lydian, It is (...E,F#, G) instead of (E,Gb,G).
It makes it easier to write. Everytime you want to use the C# in that scale you would have to use an accidental instead of just using the Db
Just don't cover it with paper.
