I understand your distinction but I think there’s a large overlap and mutual reinforcement between those two circles. Part of the political leverage is to entangle people in the grift so that they benefit from it, but also make it more profitable for him, and make them themselves complicit. Ie the personal enrichment feeds the political leverage and vice versa.

The ongoing Democrat fumble is almost as aggravating as the Trump admin’s actions. People like Schumer are playing the game like it was played 20 years ago as if the opponents can be trusted to play by the rules. Time for some fresh leadership by younger people with the energy and determination to deal with the reality.
