That's the part of Manchin people forget. I don't like him. I disagree with him on most things. But if it wasn't him in WV it would have been a republican. And he never pretended to be something he wasn't. Sinema ran as a progressive outsider then became a corporate shill, she was a problem. Manchin was exactly what he always was.
That would require the opposition to agree with itself on literally anything. The coalition's so broad that opposition to Trump and a broad agreement about rule of law is all that it has in common.

I understand what representation is just fine. I also understand that representative democracy in the US is so broken that the rest of the world is getting ruined because half of your elected officials are fascists and most of the other half would rather work with fascists than invest in a social safety net.
It's not just Cheney, it's people like the Joe Manchins of the world who actually do get elected as Democrats, but then are fundamentally incapable of passing anything because the gap between the left and right flanks of the party are so wide that they can't pass anything substantive.
The problem is there's no possible coherent policy that includes both Cheney and AOC. The tent is too big to actually function at all, and it leaves the Democratic party without any message besides being anti-MAGA.
They have to take the position of their most conservative politicians so they don't get anywhere close to 90%.
